In the history of the award, no one has won it on a team that didn't finish in the top 4 record wise. The Thunder have the 9th best record in the league.

Thank you Russell Westbrook for showing that love and respect for this game. Harden, Kawhi and LeBron are amazing players, but i think Russ is going to complete the best regular season ever for a player. He's definitely the MVP.

Russ will be a deserving winner. Not a fan of his game but that motor he has is just freakish. Gotta give credit when credit is due. Harden still my MVP and I still think he should win. His season will be underrated now unfortunately. He is facing unlucky circumstances this season. Besides Russ amazing performances this season, the narrative he has is just too strong this season and that makes his MVP stronger. Also Harden isn't as liked by the media imo.

I hope when Westbrook wins MVP that we can all put this "precedence" talk to bed in future MVP conversations. Just because something hasn't happened, doesn't mean it can't or that it's an actual requirement. Team record is more of a consideration in MVP than I prefer, but it's still just a consideration.

Moses Malone won it on a 6th seed with 46 wins. Your history is wrong.

Except it has happened. Twice apparently. People are making up false milestones.

People need to stop with the "stat padding" nonsense and give this guy the credit he deserves. His stats are better than Harden, and if Harden fans point to team record, than they should be throwing their hats in Kawhi's court. There are several good picks, and if Kawhi (my personal choice) doesn't win, I'm totally on board with Westbrook because he lifted this team up after KD left and turned them into a strong 6th seed.

Pretty much sums up why he's MVP

P.S. I feel your pain from when he roasted Dallas out of nowhere to come back and win

He really has done basically what he had to do to silence criticism in the most dramatic fashion.

You make it sound like he's some crazy eccentric. You're in a place where things like this are known so you might want to shy away from making grandiose statements about history.

Harden today drops 35 points/15 assists/11 rebounds - triple double in a relatively easy win against the Kings with multiple role players resting (Nene, Ariza, Gordon). Just because his opposition hits a clutch shot to win doesn't mean it's better, a W is a W. Harden's Rockets up to 54 wins and 24 losses. Currently up +13 in wins from last season with 2 more to play.

Harden: 35 points + 15 assists = 65 points for the team
Russell: 50 points + 10 assists = 70 points for the team

Don't let the hype blind you.

I was on the Harden bandwagon since new year... My reasoning was Hardens number is almost as impressive as westbrook and has way better team record.

But Westbrook just capped his unbelievable season with an even more monster games the last few weeks... the level hes played is getting higher as the season winds down. Harden slowed down a bit the past couple of weeks. Westbrook is making lasting impressions for the voters. I havent seen anything like this... Amazing performances from game 1 of the up to this day.

Come on man. That's a MVP signature moment if I've ever seen one. Encapsulates his whole season. 50-16-10, breaks the triple double record, 13 points in a little over 2 minutes to bring his team back from being down 10... Denver was cheering and that shot knocked their team out the playoffs. Come on man.

Imagine posting a 35-point triple double and falling further behind in the MVP race.
