After yesterday's game Giannis is the top scorer, his PER is almost the same as Jokic's (32.60 vs 32.63), he is one of the leading candidates for DPOY.

The only thing that holds him back is that his team record is not that great. Bucks are 3rd in the east. Still Sixers are 5th and Nuggets 6th

Giannis now leads the league in scoring at 29.4 and his PER is equal to Jokic plus his defense has been great. Watching the bucks this year without him is like nite and day he made a G league player look good last nite.

Giannis
Jokic
Embiid

In that order

And in one game it'll all change again. It's all too close to call and will be for a while yet.

Someone says "Embiid" - and Al Horford starts cracking up and asks "Seriously, who is the MVP?"

If anyone had doubts about who has the worst bench...:

The issue with Giannis is consistency. He can dominate teams like Indiana and the Lakers and then against teams with better frontcourt personnel like Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Phoenix, Cleveland, Toronto…his numbers look a lot more pedestrian. In essence, his numbers against elite teams are not quite as gaudy. For whatever that is worth.

I thought this was the narrative for Embiid... can someone back up with some numbers?

It’s rudimentary but Giannis has 15 games with a sub-20 game score. 2 are against Cleveland. 2 are against Atlanta. 2 are against Miami. One is against Boston. One is against Phoenix.

Meanwhile his top 15 game scores, only five of the teams have a winning record with one against a Draymond-less Golden State, one against Boston, one against Minnesota and two against the barely .500 Hornets.

As I said, if he played the hapless Lakers every night he would be MVP hands down.

Embiid and Jokic are def 1/2

Their teams would be bottom 3 in their respective conferences if not for them.

worst bench but best starting 5 compared to Sixers and nuggets. IMO I would take Jrue, Middleton and Portis before I take anybody else on the other teams.

I love Giannis and wouldn't mind he wins MVP, just trying to be objective.

Luka is getting over looked. Mavs roster has been garbage the past few years...or maybe its me underrating mavericks other players.

This is why Booker and CP3 should be above Jokic and Embiid right now.

Record matters but this must be the first time I've seen someone put forward team stats to argue not one but two players on that team should be frontrunners for an individual award, while neither is remotely close to the conversation of the best player in the league. If there are 76ers fans reading this, sorry, looks like you're not the biggest homers after all.

I see that Giannis is causing panic again on his dedicated doubters.
I get it. There's a real danger of him winning everything. Again.
Where is gooner btw? Any news of him after Giannis ring?
Is the guy ok? Has anyone checked?

Giannis is the leading DPOY candidate. Again.
Aside from being the leading scorer in the league. For the first time.
If he wins both, when has this ever happened? Only MJ? Right? Proper company.

Now imagine that every year of his prime he will be a top3 candidate (if not favourite) in both MVP and DPOY. Only him, MJ and Hakeem have pulled it once.
Only him, will do it multiple times.

There are levels.
And there's Giannis.

You've been waiting the whole season to post that eh? He's been dominant for the last 2 months, and he has 1 bad game, and it's like, yo, Horford has his number.

The celtics were complete ass a month ago.
