So, basically higher volume Mike Conley w lower bbiq

That's probably not where I would go with it, Conley was always a significantly better shooter from 3, unless you are focused on the 3rd/4th option portion.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

My final thoughts are Fox's value should be at its peak right now, and it will only decline after his next max extension. This thread is a prime example of how sports fans like to just pile on based on a franchise past mistakes. Kings made out fine at the time and it makes much more sense to have a short window with LaVine then commit and build around Fox for another six to seven years (1.5 seasons plus a five year max) he isn't that guy

I agree. It’s hard for Kings fans to admit but it’s true. Going all in on Fox for 6-7 years would have been a mistake.

There is no denying there is some truth to this absolutely.

The questions I have/had around Fox are his injury issues. This is 2 seasons in a row, and the first round of the POs a couple of years back that Fox has been injured which severely limited his potential/all round game. So the question for me was, at what point do we say he is "injury prone". I put that in quotes because he doesn't seem to miss too many games, but he's been hampered by one thing or another for a large amount of time in his NBA career.
I was willing to give it until next season, but I also thought he should have gone in and got it fixed ASAP this season. There was no point to keep playing.

Fox's 3PT shot has never been dependable, which is a problem because it is almost impossible to be a top-tier guard in this league without one, especially when it comes to increasing efficiency and justifying a max contract on a championship roster.

He can be the third guy, but the less opportunities, the less valuable he is. He needs to have the ball in his hands and have the offense run through him to justify a max contract. He has never really demonstrated an ability to play off the ball, which is a major factor why SAC moved Haliburton.

He's been in the league for what 8 years now? You would expect his game to have developed by now if it was going to. The Kings are not in a great position, in my opinion, but committing to and extending Fox would only make it worse by making it impossible to change course. At least they now have a relatively short three year window to work things out with LeVine, and if they cannot, they can now start over rather than having to commit 6-7 years to Fox.

Another problem is, like you mention, if the injuries keep getting worse, the contract might end up being a total bust. Fox is even more dependent on his athleticism than Kemba Walker was you never want to assume the worst but when you are committing 6-7 years you have to think how his game is going to age and what would happen if his athleticism was affected by an injury

In general, I wasn’t thrilled about the pairing with Wemby because he doesn’t provide the level of playmaking that would take Wemby’s game to the next level. Someone like Trae Young simply made more sense from a fit perspective. Aside from that, he just hasn’t looked like a needle mover in any way shape or form..which is unfortunate because Zach Lavine has actually made the Kings better. Before this trade most fans (especially myself) would’ve regarded Fox as the better player..but now I’m not so sure. Makes you question whether Fox himself played a big role in Sacramento’s mediocrity.

As a Kings fan Fox has been disappointing for a few seasons now. He’s a good player, but more of a fringe all star. He says he can get to any spot he wants and get any shot he wants, which is true, but the production just isn’t there consistently. His IQ is lacking, and he doesn’t seem to process fast enough to truly be an elite player. He’s without question not good enough to be a #1, but I question whether he’s good enough to be a #2.

Is that really a question? How many #2 options is Fox better than? He might be the worst #2 in the league.
