The only reason why he would leave is because no good FAs are going there, only thing that makes sense.

He could have been given the opportunity to resign. Not sure why it hasn't been said yet.

It's more plausible than "I didn't tell my boss yet".

Couldn't agree more. Can't even face his boss/friend before getting in front of the media? Wow, to me that's shameful. And then to say that she can trust him...almost hilarious at that point.

Couldn't believe he said that right after saying they spent discussing 'the direction of the team'. Would have been the perfect time to bring it up. Now we find out he meet with Lebron and his team over the weekend and didn't tell them either? Shameful is right.

Bingo.

The offseason hasn't even started, so how would he know that? Sure you could guess that some big names probably won't go there, but someone might.

Magic gave his reasons for leaving and I believe him. He wasn't having fun and wanted to do other things.

I don't get what is confusing here. The guy came in touting that he would bring big FAs to the Lakers with LeBron or he would quit, he quit. Am I the only person not having trouble drawing the line between A and B?

I am sure they have put out feelers through agents to see what the top 10 free agents are thinking.
Sure, they will get someone to sign but it could be a "C" star. The West is too good for the Lakers to be adding a "C" star and hoping for good results. After next year, how much more will Lebron have in the tank?

Who outside the desperate Teams wants Lebron right now?

Who are the Teams Lebron would want to go to?

clippers

Just imagine the anger and glory if it happened. Laker fans would be so petty and would buy tickets just to boo the clippers and anytime Lebron touched the ball

Well at least he did quit. I thought he was going to pretend that he never said that when July 1st passed with no free agent signings.

Next season was the deadline he quit before even trying free agency. It also makes the Lakers look unstable with a broken front office

Just wow. He is a PUNK and COWARD. In addition that press conference shows his total lack of professionalism. He embarrassed himself, Lakers and whoever spoke highly of him. I am a shamed of ever being his fan. Just wow, disappointing.

SAS is gonna be louder and talk slower. this is too much for even him to handle.

Skip will say he told you so, and that its lebrons fault.

Shannon will say not to worry, everything is under control, and proceed to make howling noises to articulate the rest of his point, before clamorng about how 'lebron got this'

You also have a new head of operations coming in who has to evaluate the coaching from two regimes ago and a GM from the guy who just quit.

Whoever takes the job has to decide on staff, make a connection with Lebron and also lure free agents

The Lakers are a dumpster fire and Magic really is a smiling clown.

Lakers should go out and find a modern GM who can build a team around LeBron. Get rid of Pelinka too.

This is why I don't want the media to let him off the hook if the Lakers sign no big name free agents. They better roast him. He quit before facing the music.

Exactly. No big stars are coming.
You'd have to be a fool to believe the Luke Walton excuse. Magic wouldn't lose a minute of sleep if he had to fire Luke esp if he knew a big name was coming this summer.
