I'd love to see a poll for NBA executives at this stage and how they would rank Cade, Mobley, Barnes, Giddey, and Wagner. All 5 of them have been absolutely unreal and have All-NBA potential. I'm not even sure how I'd rank them at this stage.

This off-season and next will be really telling for Barnes. Like every other Raptors fan, I think his ceiling is All-NBA, and I think he has the potential to be a Top 10 guy if he puts the work in mentally/physically. I could see him averaging 20/8/5 with a block + steal a game easily in his prime.

I know this will piss off a lot of Magic fans but a re-draft for me has 2 tiers right now that I'd consider with a top 5 pick:
Tier 1a - proven high end talent: Mobley, Barnes, Cade
Tier 1b - sky-high potential: Giddey, Kuminga, Green

I can't quite bring myself to put Franz in there. I can see Franz being a nice 2nd or 3rd option on a championship team, but I can't see him being the team's first or second best player. Would not be surprised if he proved me wrong though.

But looking for next year, Toronto needs to get rid of a body IMO. When all players are healthy, Scottie is the 5th option and he plays with FOUR guys who average 17 a game or more. It used to be 18+ but OG dipped a bit.

I don't remember a team having four 17+ ppg scorers in a single year. The fact that Scottie averages 15+ himself as the last guy eating is insane.

You take this as his rookie season, but in order to really get to the next level you need to find more usage for him. Even the point of this thread, the post ASG numbers. It was done without OG and even Fred during some games.

OG will go IMO. Siakam and Barnes are perfect fits, there's so much chemistry between the two. OG is definitely expendable.
He should be moved for a big man.

It's only been four games so far, so the sample size is small, but it's noteworthy. In that span, Mobley is putting up the following averages:

19.5 PPG on 55% FG
12 RPG
3 APG
1.75 SPG
1.75 BPG

This is on top of still playing elite defense. If these were his averages for the entire season, he'd be the overwhelming favorite to win ROY with no one even calling it into question. Jarrett Allen is instrumental to Cleveland's success, and I personally do not think they will hold their 6th spot now that he's gone with injury. But it's opening the door for Mobley to showcase that he is also capable of being a very good second option, as well as a walking double double with elite defense (you know, just like Allen). I hate that Allen is injured, but this opportunity is exactly what Mobley needed.

I am not trying to promote one guy at the expense of the other or anything, but I can't help noticing how close Mobley and Barnes are right now.

Barnes last 10 games:

19 PPG on 57% FG
8.4 RPG
3.3 APG
1 SPG
2 BPG

Mobley’s defensive impact still far outweighs Barnes, but what I find notable about what Barnes is doing is that he’s not even their second option on offense even with VanVleet missing games. I couldn’t even begin to imagine what his numbers would be if he were the number one option on offense. But then again, the same holds true for Mobley.

Mobley is better on defense and Barnes on offense but recently Mobley has improved his offense and Barnes his defense significantly from what I have seen.

Hey that's fair and to be expected considering both came into the league more highly regarded & polished.

I think most Raps fans are just thrilled to have a player in the same type of conversation as those 2 considering a) we weren't even supposed to be in the top 4 and b) Scottie himself wasn't expected to be a top 3-4 talent but yet is.

But I certainly won't rule out that he can be at their level (or better) long term as I think they're ahead of him in their development but as he catches up, I'm not sure. He's easily the most improved player from college to their rookie season and is showing a clear aptitude to learn/develop (quite drastically at that). Couple that with landing in a developmental system that has to be considered one of the top in the league and he's not even scratching the surface of what I think he'll inevitably be. Look at what the Raps did with MUCH lesser & much rawer prospects like OG and Siakam. If he improves at a similar rate to either of them (which I don't see why a kid who took such a massive leap already wouldn't), he's going to be a monster.

He's essentially combining some of the best traits from either guy with his ability to play as a wing or post player while being physically imposing and has some fantastic court vision. He ALREADY has the strength/body of a player in his prime, bullying a lot bigs in the league yet this is his "kid body", by the time he hits his prime he's going to be an absolute tank! The Raps have substantially improved the shooting of almost every young player that came through their door, he does that, watch out...

As a Pistons fan, it just feels good to watch competitive ball again even if the talent isn't quite there to close out games yet. Cade is culture changing. Oh and despite what some naysayers have said, the kid can pass.

Cade 23/10/9/2 blk on 50% FG. Must be one of the few games he hasn't hit a 3 pointer, but he managed to score in a variety of other ways.

The kid started off slow due to missing training camp but he’s been the best rookie for a while now

We played 8 guys. Only 1 guard off the bench, Saben Lee who splits time between the league and the G-League. Everyone else is not available.

People need to give rookies some time before they bash them...I mean of course if the guy looks like complete trash that's one thing, but a lot of guys will be average or struggle for a while and then start to figure it out. Almost nobody just comes out and looks like a star early on.

The reason for the minutes are several, but the biggest is that because of injuries, the options are horrific.

Saben Lee is NOT an NBA player, but he's the backup gaurd. I think Adam Sandler would be a better option, and I'm only half joking.
