Remember, they don't need to win 4 in a row, they only need to win 1 game 4 times.

Pipe dream. There is a reason why it's never been done before in the NBA and only happened in low scoring sports like hockey and baseball a handful of times in pro sports history. Once a basketball team is up 3-0, they only have to phone in a game to win another. The pressure is always concentrated on the losing team. It's like trying to climb up a rock ledge with a monsoon pouring down on you. One slip and you're done.

What I'm also going to point out is that even though I think Bynum needs to be traded he was having a great game yesterday and getting him 2 shots in the fourth quarter was unacceptable.

Similarly the only shots Kobe got in the final 2 minutes were 3 desperation 3-pointers with around 18 seconds left and his team down 6.

The Lakers are just playing dumb basketball.

Dirk is shooting 19-for-25 (76%) when guarded by Gasol this series. 13-for-32 (41%) vs. all others.
Stop being so disrespectful.

I know I'm just stating the obvious, but the Mavs are looking really good out there. Crisp passing, solid shooting, even playing good team D. They have been a real treat to watch for this Hawks fan.

Keep it up.

I'm not sure that tells the whole story. The Lakers seem content to defend Dirk one-on-one whenever Gasol is on him. But how often do they double team Dirk when it's Odom/Artest/Kobe/Barnes that tries to defend him?

It is pretty sad how this dynasty is falling apart, can someone explain me what happened to Pau? This guy is just a scrub now, he can't play any D on nobody and he is in his full soft mode, he can barely score and right now he only hit long-range jumpers, no layups, no dunks, no hooks, nothing...I just can't believe that a jumpshooting team is destroying this team. Even though we deserved to win at least one game, we're now on the brink of elimination, 0-3, it is not impossible, I still have faith in this team, hopefully Pau injures his leg on today's practice and he is out for the rest of the season. Then, we would have a chance, a slim one. If somehow we win Game 4 and come back and take Game 5 in LA, we will win the series. Book it.

4th quarter execution, thats all.

The Mavs step up, execute almost perfect their plays, move the ball perfect etc

Lakers? Playing like a young lottery team. Start blowing rotations (Dirk, Terry, Peja with open 3s), forgetting their inside presence, TO, bricks....

The Mavs own the Lakers in the 4th for three straight games.

You never know, the Mavs may still choke the rest of the games and go down as the first team to ever lose when up 3-0. Then the forums would collapse.

You should never underestimate the ability of a team like the Mavs who have always found a way to lose, finding a way to lose again. But that said this Lakers team just does not have it. People have been mentioning pride and confidence in these threads like this was '09 or something. These Lakers do not look proud, and they certainly don't look confident at all. A two time defending champion, but they know they are weak. Half of them look shell shocked or even scared. There is no sense at all of a team about to come together and say "not on my watch!" I think its easy to confuse arrogance with pride sometimes. And arrogance/complacency helped get the Lakers to this point. But pride We are the Lakers and this is how we roll stuff? Just very rarely been there basically all year.

And Pau...last year on this board we had to deal with a surge of nimwit Laker fans, who I assume averaged about 16 and had never seen anybody else play, running around talking about Pau as a HOFer and being better than Webber, and better than Dirk, and better than just about everybody who had ever played except maybe Tim Duncan, who might have had 1 or 2 years as good. Dumb as all that was, I in no way expected the complete collapse in confidence he has seemed to suffer. The huge relapse into softness. Its just so evident when you watch him out there. It looks like he is just floating around in a daze waiting for the other shoe to drop. And it may on Sunday.

Let's start taking bets ah which player on the Lakers starts to blame others for the loss lol.

I think Kobe will say something first...."I'm not sure this team had the heart of a champion" pointing at Pau. Btw I think that Bynum's comment about trust was bout Kobe taking one on 5 shots instead of passing to the open players....

Next...Artest. "Players just don't have each other's back" referencing his suspension for clocking a guy in the face who is a foot smaller and that noone supported him lol

Jackson "Physically...this was one of the best teams I've coached" in a cheapshot about the teams apparently lack of mental toughness.

Then...Kobe again "It may be time to retire" because he'll want the attention back on him.

Maybe you're right about the Mavs based on previous years, but I don't believe they were the team this series that blew a 16 point lead or something in Game 1 or a 8 point 4th quarter lead in Game 3.

And it doesn't help that the supposed 2nd best player on your team has the confidence of the last girl off the bench on a girls' high school team.

Not even close....Pau is way better than Chris....He had an off playoffs this year but without Pau, Lakers don't sniff the last two championships.

He's not. Webber was the better scorer, rebounder, and defender.

Actually, most of the Gasol overrating stemmed from a desire to denigrate Kobe. Never mind the "logic" was ridiculous (every superstar has needed all star help to win a title, save for Tim Duncan). He's a great 2nd option, but replace him with say, 2008 KG (let alone 2004 KG) and the Lakers are looking at a 4-peat with the exact same cast. Yet people tried to argue Gasol > Dwight, Gasol > Prime Duncan, Gasol = prime Shaq, etc, etc.
