Most NBA players aren't showing you their true selves, so it can be interesting to see how they want to portray themselves at times.

This is very true. I think a perfect representation is Durant's tattoos. I'm not saying tattoos make you a bad person, but I believe his public persona is a reason why he only has them in places that can't be seen when his jerseys on.

That's the point. Everybody knows Kobe's a killer on the court by his on-court demeanor and general fearlessness, which is why him trying to present this constant I-don'**** image is so contrived. Every answer of his in post-game interviews now is delivered with a sarcastic sneer. It's like he's insecure or something. feeling the need to constantly show who he really is. Maybe he is trying to compensate for his decline, who knows, because he wasn't like this even 2 years ago.

Everyone states that Kobes media persona is not the real him, but offers no ideas as to the real him. What is he, the Joker?

I don't know why Laker fans are getting all offended, doesn't mean we don't appreciate Kobe as a player.

But as a personality it's no secret he has copied MJ down to the mannerisms, to the way he talked in interviews, even to the way he celebrates a big shot, with the same fist pump pose, the same bending down and pounding the floor with his fist.

When you've seen the real deal, yes it can be amusing. You'd understand if someone came along and tried to copy everything Magic did I guess. :dontknow:

I mean you have two ideological choices right

A. You can think Kobe has basically watched tape of Jordan down to the micro behavior level and worked to achieve a startling but not 100% accurate imitation of it or

B. He's of such a rare nature that it naturally manifests itself in the few variations that unique psychological makeups manifest themselves.

One of these seems to have had Occams razor already applied to it. Seems easy enough to me.

Honestly, his comments weren't even mean spirited or anything. He's obviously just taking playful jabs at an old teammate.

“Look, we don’t get five championships by being sympathetic towards each other and kissing each other's a-- during the game,” Bryant said Wednesday when asked about the Lakers’ upcoming game against the Thunder next week. “I’m going to demolish him. He understands that. If he switches off on me in the post, there’s going to be problems. I’m sure he’ll put an elbow right in my back, and that’s why we love each other.”

im going to miss kobe when hes gone, hes my second fav player after dirk. but he seems to be the last of these players that have the "cut throat, kill all attitude," bird had it, MJ certainly had it.

God he just tries so hard...

It's a stupid topic because he so obviously did it's not worth discussion.
