Lebron certainly deserved the MVP award but it's ludacris to think that shaq and Kobe shouldn't have won more than 1 MVP in their careers. Shaq is the most dominant player in the history of the nba and Kobe is the most skillful twoway player in the nba since Michael.

Kobe wasn't the best player in the NBA very often at all though.

Kobe played in an era with two other top 10 players in nba history. Neither shaq nor Duncan had more individual talent but were more important because dominant big men win championships and are easier to build around.

3 in the early years of the new millennium : Kobe, Shaq, and Duncan

2 in the 50's/60's: Wilt, Russel

2 in the 90's: Jordan, and (arguably) Hakeem

Lebron isn't competing with anywhere near the talent that these guys did when it comes to other "best-ever" type dominant players in their era, especially in the 80's and early 00's.

I think this goes to show more how terrible the picks of MVP have been, and not the greatness of Lebron.

It's not that, it comes down to who was the comp in that era. How many MVP's are Shaq and Hakeem going to win when MJ is around even when they are in there prime?
Lebron was winning his MVP's when guys like Shaq, Duncan, Garnett were not in there primes anymore. That changes quite a bit if he comes in the league 3-4 years earlier.

Lebron coming in earlier just means he takes the Steve Nash and Dirk MVPs. He would probably have 3 at least anyway. He is truly a great player and playing with Shaq, Duncan and Garnett wouldn't have changed anything. Shaq should have more MVPs BTW.

Throw Mitch Richmond or Detlef Schrempf in today's game and they probably win some MVPs. heck I would take a couple of Latrell Sprewell's best years over Lebron this year. Imagine Latrell with no handcheck, gets fouled if people breathe on him, and he's allowed to crab dribble all game. Dude would average 33/5/5
