Re: How far does OKC get with Melo instead of Durant?
Carmelo is a great player but he's never had a season or post season close to what Durant's had. Durant's at another level. Maybe they get past the Mavericks, but OKC needed some close wins to beat the Lakers, and strong games from Durant. I'd put that series as 50/50 with Carmelo. No way they get past the Spurs without HCA.

He has a good chance to be...but he's not there yet.

So id say we'd lose in the first round with him
Great fallacy right there.
Denver had some awful / injured teams he carried to the playoffs, usually losing to the Champs in the first one. He also has the worst playoff coach in NBA history. A player can only do so much, never missing the playoffs with bad teams shows he can win.

WB would be gone first chance for a return that's not as valuable, James Harden becomes a starter and also clashes with Melo. First round exit.
Lots of trolling in this thread?
Melo played next to AI and didn't go insane. So seems your entire post is way off.

So that means Melo gets to play with a healthy team for the 2nd time in his career?

It means Westbrook would be the best player on OKC. They don't finish with the second best record in the west. Not sure they even beat Dallas with Melo. Not to knock Melo but Durant is just superior in just about everything. Durant might be the most consistent player in the league. Melo is really inconsistent. You have no idea what to expect from him at times.

Not very. Durant is a great off the ball player while Carmelo really needs the ball in his hands to be most effective.

Do you need reminding of Carmelo Anthony season. He shot 43% from the field. Sucked for most of it. Has a career y PER of 20. Westbrook's last two seasons are better than any Melo year in his career in PER. Westbrook numbers nearly mirror Derrick Rose or comparable to a Deron Williams. It is common for people to think they are better than Melo. Simply put Melo's name outweighs his game. Until he does something in this league worth talking about he shouldn't be compared to Durant or any legit superstar. Do we need to post some of Melo's shooting percentages in the playoffs. 4 years of his career he hasn't broken 37% in the playoffs. Were asking how they would do with Melo? Really. Right now Melo may or may not be better than Paul Pierce. He isn't on the same universe as Durant.

They don't beat SA that is for sure, and honestly they probably lose in round 1 to the Mavs.

WCF. They lose to the Spurs in 6 or 7. The better question would be how far does OKC get with peak T-Mac instead of Durant.

I love how the "legend of Durant" continues
Not everyones lucky enough to have a STACKED team like Durant
Doesn't make them lesser players
Melo is worse than Durant, but some of these posts insulting him for lack of playoff success cause he doesn't have a team NEARLY as good as Durant's are just dumb

Re: How far does OKC get with Melo instead of Durant?
Durant does have a stacked team and great supporting cast. He has a significantly better and more well rounded supporting cast then Lebron.
But Durant is still a top 3 player in this league and a legit superstar with his actual game and not just name. The only players who are arguably/probably more valuable to a team right now are Lebron and a healthy Dwight Howard. But Durant may be the best offensive player in the game today and the only reason I rate Lebron and especially a healthy Howard higher are their defense.
Melo is nowhere near as good. An older Paul Pierce in my opinion outplayed Melo this season.
With Melo replacing Durant, OKC loses in the first or second round and there regular season record is nowhere near as good.
Melo can have great games but he has more bad games then great games. Besides being much better, Durant is much easier to incorporate into a team structure and Durant could easily play with Amare.
Durant may not be a great defender but he isn't a liability on that end like Carmelo.

A lot farther than if they had Carmelo. Replace Durant with Carmelo and it's quite possible that the Thunder would miss the playoffs...

Replace Durant with Carmelo and they'd still be a top 4 seed....are you joking me?
Durant isn't that far ahead of Carmelo that replacing Durant with Carmelo would drop them out of the playoffs......seriously overrating Durant here
