Lakers would have to also send Orlando draft picks and take on bad contracts according to Woj

They have 1 year to suffer after then hit the full reset button.

Assuming they keep Hedo & Metta through 2013-2014. Along with Kobe & Pau deals expiring after 2013-2014. Those 4 players alone are $69.665million coming off the books in one year.

It is a huge risk parting with Bynum for Howard, who will walk. But it allows the Lakers to change things quickly if it all goes South.

Yeah, I'd be almost willing to do it for that reason alone -- you get the outside chance you might be able to pull off another title (very outside chance), and you can completely wipe the slate clean if it doesn't.

bynum >dwight

Orlando is laughing if they do this.

Bynum may be the better low post scorer. I'm sure he will even put up better numbers being the number 1 option, but Howard defense is on another level.

I agree with bynum being the better low post scorer, but I don't think he can put up the numbers dwight put up in orlando. Maybe the points i guess. But I think bynum needs to work on handling those double teams better

This site is full of hypocrites. Like the Celtics weren't gifted two superstars? Like the Heat weren't gifted two superstars? The Chris Paul Veto trade proved the league wasn't so fixated on the Lakers.

He coming home ..

ATL

He would have to pass up max bird right money, and probably HALF his addidas deal to go to ATL. That's a lot to leave on the table. Plus there's been no indication that ATL is on Dwight's list. When Dwight made his list originally it was BK, Dallas, and LA.

Not worth it IMO, Bynum can opt out in 2014 and it would leave them with nothing, unless they get some 1st round picks. I like the Nets trade better, 3 first round picks + Brooks + Lopez.

3 1st round picks with that trio. More like 3 early 2nd round picks

This is the problem. Dwight will not sign the extension.

If Dwight were only about winning he would have agreed to go to Chicago last year. He wants to be the man and he wants to play in NY.

I don't think he wants to play in LA. I think he would rather play in Dallas with Dirk. And I think Dirk will step back and let him be the guy.

I'm told the Magic will include Jason Richardson in any deal for Dwight Howard.

I'm down for Richardson - Orlando absolutely should have to take some of our trash (Artest) If we are to take their bad contract in J-Rich.

Dwight will not "extend" with anyone.. not even Brooklyn. As D.Will told showed us, it make more sense to be a FA to do for 5 years than extend for 3.

What’s more, Bynum wouldn’t nearly be enough to satisfy Hennigan’s desires for a return on Howard. The Lakers would need to send draft picks and absorb long-term money off the Magic’s payroll, sources said.

both teams should just meet somewhere in the middle. Both Lakers and Orlando want to unload salary in this deal.

I wonder if Dwight will change his mind and sign an extention knowing he'll play with gasol as well.
