LeBron is not "a top 5 playmaker of all time". That's a pretty ridiculous claim. He's a willing passer with decent vision and mechanics who's also a great individual offensive threat, opening a lot of things up.

He'll easily break 30k and probably will get 10k rebounds, but I really don't see 10k assists happening plausibly.

Man, I know people don't like Lebron, but some of the things people say just make you wonder who they've been watching for 10 years.

The guy never gets hurt, has shown no physical decline of any sort, is metronome like in his consistency, is about as physically gifted as it's possible to be, improves his game over the years, and is as skilled and intelligent as any guy in the NBA.

People saying he'll break down, or he doesn't have the ability and skill to gracefully age in the NBA, what are you basing that on? From everything I've seen, I expect this guy to be the best in the NBA at least until he's 33 or so. Beyond that, I don't see any reason why he won't play at a top level until probably 37/38 and beyond.

Barring no major injuries, he reaches 30,000 points in 5 seasons.

This is his 10th season already so rebounds and assists would probably take at least another 10.

He could still be playing at 38.

The score a tv in channel ripped off yet another RGM thread in this one without reference to rgm. They seem to do it a lot.

Would you say Mark Jackson is "a top 5 playmaker of all time"?

And Lebron even at 40 will still be a greater scoring threat than Mark Jackson ever was, so the court should be even more open for Lebron.

Andre Miller is still averaging 6 ast/gm right now, and he only plays 26mpg. He'll turn 37 in March. He doesn't have to be able to penetrate and collapse the D like Westbrook, he just knows how to run an offense and how to get the ball to guys in their spots. And that's with defenses sagging off of him because he can't hit a 3.

Oh no, 40k is not more possible. Think about how many points he will have to average and for how long. His body will break down before then.

Why not?... He has remained healthy and durable for his 10 year career, this should be an indication that shows he's less likely to break down in the future if anything. He can be an absolute beast even after he loses his athleticism so it's very possible. If you told me this during his Cleveland days then I'd actually agree with you, but now I doubt he will break down. He can still score 20+ into his mid 30s and probably around 15-20 in his late 30s. That's enough to get him over 40k points.

For 10k assist

10 years 500 assist a year 75 games = 6.6 assist per season

Lebron will be 38 . Def plausible

Lebron will always have his passing ablity and able to kick out for threes

Look at Jason Kidd still get up and down floor

I could see Lebron at 38 avg 15 PTs 6 Rebs 6 assist

If Lebrons Pride will allow him to not be the best player in the game and he wants to play til 40 he will easily get 30/10/10.

Passing should get better

Hes a virtual lock to retire as:
Top 5 in Points (probably at least top 3)
Top 7 in Assists
Top 10 in Steals

As well as 10k+ rebounds and 1k+ blocks

That's amazing.

If he's playing till he's 40, it's very much likely that will be 40 instead of 30.

Jordan was able to average almost 20ppg coming off a bad injury as a 40 yr old, I'm sure Lebron could fare much better at 38.

Other players at 38:

Karl Malone: 22.4ppg
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: 23.4ppg
Michael Jordan: 23.7ppg

Lebron doesn't strike me as someone who'd want to stick around till age 38. That's a huge assumption.

LeBron "being done" by his early 30s in the biggest load of crap. So what if he did lose most of his athleticism...You still have a 6"8 Malone like body running around the court with Magic playmaking skills.

His body is bound to break down. He's been playing since 18...

And if he did lose his explosiveness? He's still a top 5 overall playmaker of all time.

No,

He's not even a better playmaker than cp3.

there was a good study on assist value showcasing how high cp3's are compared to other players in the nba. Lebron wasn't even near the top.

He's a good passer/ good-decent playmaker, but I don't see him close to top 5 in playmaking. all time.

Just watch USA team.CP had the ball in his hands more than lebron when they shared the court still lebron averaged more assists and dictated the pace.

I see him retiring 28k points, 8k assists, 10k rebounds.

Whoops! :-)

At some point he'll change his game. He facilitates the offense so well, is so strong, and just has an incredible feel for the game that even a drastic athleticism decline would probably reduce him to "only" and all-star talent. I can see him playing till 40. His career is less than 1/2 over.
