Cap in regard to calculating the max salary is not the same as the salary cap. That should be noted. So, it is 30% of that "adjusted" cap not the salary cap.

Kings have to overpay any free agent to come here. I don't necessarily love iggy for the max however its only a 4 year deal. I believe he has 3 very good years left then he is an expiring contract. I wouldnt sign him to a 5 year deal, but 4 is about right,

A core of Iggy, Mclemore, Cousins looks good to me for now.

No one else thinks this could aid player development and team culture?

Yeah I know just trying to keep it simple. That 16 million number is the correct max number.

I think it can. He's one of the smartest and hardest working guys in the league and I've never heard a teammate say a bad thing about him

I also think there are other ways to achieve those goals without potentially paying Andre Iguodala $70 million over 4 years though.

I think that is the main point. You gotta think people how else is Sacramento going to attract top FA's at this point in time. Iggy would be a lot of what the Kings need he'll bring some leadership, some veteran mentoring, and a different culture to the team. Plus they've been very weak at SF since Ron Artest was there. Although I agree the price is very high for him, if you're Sacramento you have to do something to change the culture and start to bring back the good days.

That's the only way he'll play for them. If they really want him, that's the way.

That's a silly statement. Why over pay for an inferior player? And plus teams have been over paying for players for years - Rashard Lewis?

Nuggets got out of 2 big contracts, one of which had turned out to be a horrible deal the other on a guy who was under performing. That is usually worth future 1st and a couple of mid to late 2nd round picks.

Not to mention the Kings do not have max cap space, the Nuggets will get something in a sign and trade.

I think Iggy would definitely help.

Also for all those blaming the new CBA, fact is there is way too much money available and not enough talent, with the salary floor being as high as it is they have to spend it on someone. Iggy was always going to get overpaid this year, I just did not think it would be this much.

he may well end up (or start off) a bad contract, however I love this move if they get him.
adds a defensive sort of culture to this team.
all they need is a nice pg and hopefully they will mesh and get off worst team level.

Same story every year. The owners have no self-control whatsoever.

The owners complain about losing money and then go ahead and pay non-All-Stars max money. Makes sense.
