Last season i said he was overrated (and i was right at the time) but i also thought he would produce similar results (this season) as he did last season but i am wrong so far. Still i want to see more, he has only played 20 games this season, before we can say he is up there with melo durant and Lebron.

Settle down there, let's not group melo with kd and Bron. Pg also surpassed him last playoffs and it's a slap in the face of current Paul George to be compared to melo. Let's keep melo in the Rudy gay or slightly higher tier where he belongs.

C'mon man melo was better than george last season, and its not debatable. This season i concede that it's much closer but like i said Paul geroge only played 20 games this season. If we only assess player in their last 20 - 40 games then someone like wall (for example) is a top 5 nba player.

It seems pretty clear you aren't taking defense into the equation. Offensively it's debatable, but once you add in Paul George's vastly superior defense, it's no longer debatable who the better player is.

I'm shocked to see Green Apple's post to and1 ratio. I mean, having an almost 1:1 ratio would be a great feat for us mere mortals, but to him, it seems kind of disrespecting. The counter has to be wrong.

Green Apple wrote:Paul George's ascension to the peak of of his sport has been astonishing but all too real. His talents are numerous and should be appreciated that is for certain. His acceleration is almost too rapid to comprehend. He effortlessly roars past his defenders with the sleekness of a Peregrine Falcon. His defender lies motionless, glued to the floor. As he watches this brilliant contortionist slide past him with the greatest ease and confidence his soul wilts till it has reached the point of extinction

His speed and skill is one thing but this is a gentleman with wisdom which belies his true age. This cunning craftsman overwhelms his defenders not only with his physical gifts, which are plenty, but also with his stupendous cerebral approach which can never be underestimated. He utilizes his keen eye for the game and superior guile and ultimately leaves his opponent dismayed and shocked at what has been demonstrated before him. He is a performer, that should be understood, but is also a battle tested warrior looking for new and greater challenges. We are in a great age when we get to see this exquisite athlete perform before us.

GC Pantalones wrote:I mean sure.... As long as you didn't look at how either of them performed against each other when Melo outplayed him easily in 6 then yeah he outperformed him. But to anyone that watched the games (or looked at boxscores) Melo let looked way better than George.

It depends. Carmelo Anthony scored 28.5 PPG on 25 shots per game in the NYK-IND series. Paul George scored 19.5 PPG on 16.5 shots per game. Neither player was efficient but George took less shots that allowed his team's more efficient players to score the ball.

Rebounding-wise, Melo had a slight edge (7.8 RPG against 7 RPG). Paul George had a big edge in assisting (5 APG against 1.3 APG) and steals (1.7 SPG against 0.8 SPG) and an inconsequential edge in blocks (0.3 BPG against 0.2 BPG). The only thing that Melo clearly did better in that series was take care of the ball (2.5 TPG against 4.5 TPG). And let's not even talk about who was better defensively because we all know the answer to that.

Look, Carmelo certainly gave his all in that series. He played his heart out and he was great in games 2 and 6. He was one of the few Knicks players that showed that they care. But Paul George was great as well. His all-around performance and his defence had as much (if not bigger) impact for the Pacers as Melo's scoring had for the Knicks.

GC Pantalones wrote:That said Green Apple is back and Paul George so far this year is living up to his hype. Issue is his hype is rising and he's still slightly overrated. Even at his currently level he's not over Chris Paul. He's firmly at 4th though.

I won't argue that Paul George is better than Chris Paul. CP3 is a phenomenal player. Heck, I'm not going to compare them either. Comparing a SF to a PG is not easy because they have a different impact offensively and defensively and are generally asked to do different things on the court.

To me this who is better between Melo and George is silly. Salary aside, would ANY general manager take Melo over George. I can't think of any reason someone would take Melo over George at this point.

You have a choice to add either player to your team. Who would you take?

why would a gm want melo as his franchise player?

you aint winning with that dude...plus you have to take into account his huge salary. one of the most overrated superstars of recent times.
