This, Was given one of the last spots on the roster and would effect games by his hustle and hard work

Then got lazy again thinking he deserved everything, fell into a heap and is gone

Short term motivation versus long term motivation?

If you only have short term motivation like proving someone else wrong or getting a contract then you typically disappoint yourself and others, but if you are motivated by simply being the best you can be at something, then you typically inspire yourself and others.

I think it would be weird to have your career chosen for you by your physical profile alone. Your a 6'-0" white guy so you're going to be an accountant. What happens if I don't want to be an accountant?

DeMarcus Cousins had that moniker also and is possibly the best big man in the game now

I don't think the actual lazy players ever become fiery, I think that's just innate, but I think some percentage of them become professionals. Personality matters, and I also think some percentage of them have a problem with various substances, including occasionally even food, and maybe if they master those issues they can come around. Randolph was actually running a pot ring out of his garage or some such. It took down Keon Clark. Lamar etc.

P.S. That moniker was flat off about Cousins from the beginning, which is one of the reasons I was SMH at the Coleman comparisons and what not. He always burned too hot, not the other way around. The bad body language was more akin to a kid getting pissed and throwing a tantrum rather than not caring, and if you ever tried to take his ball away he'd punch you right in the mouth.

Good example of someone who came into the league and worked hard, found himself with a bad organization and stopped working, got a second chance with a great organization and started working again.

When we talk about motivation, how do we define it? To me motivation comes in many different forms:
Some players motivated by making a name for themselves.
Some players are motivated to get another contract.
Some players are motivated when they get enough touches.
Some players are motivated by being part of a winning team.
Some players are motivated by being the best player they can be regardless of circumstances.

He's bounced around.
He was good in some places bad in others

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.

How did the foreign country and decent money motivate you to get your **** together?

I came to Denmark from poor Eastern Europe country. I had no way back. The GDP of my home country fell by something like 15% due to global economic crisis. Either i get it together or i kill my self. That's how desperate i was. When i got my first salary it was awesome. I could buy decent food, clothes and even support my parents back at home. 5 years and i still work in the same place, my salary 3 times bigger of what i got the first year and i am the right hand of my boss. I would guess desperation has something to do with players getting it after some time. Those who came from powerty and have no way back, will bust their asses to make it. Then there are guys like Bynum, who was talented enough to make good money with little work and dedication. He was not desperate enough. He already has millions in his account, so he can **** around.

If it's Moldova I can relate, I spent a winter there, and as positive as I usually am the country slowly sucked the spirit out of me.

The people were nice but so damn depressed, and there were the jerks who would intentionally run over potholes to splash water on pedestrians.

Randolph didn't have the potential to be great. He was always good, but had his immature moments where he wouldn't play to his strengths and he would do stupid things like his dribble dribble three point shot. His problem was being consistent with that "good" and overall effort.

Mo Speights. He could always shoot but finally busted his ass to get in shape this offseason and has found himself a rotation spot in the league.

Cousins and some others could form a whole new category of players that are competitive and care, but are unable to control their emotions to the point that it hurts their game and their team. Watching players take plays off because they are pissed about a call or not getting a touch on the other end is detrimental as well and could be a lack of maturity.

I was going to say that. Even though scouts have talked about his post game and shooting form, he looked lazy at Kansas. It's not like he didn't have the talent, he probably wasn't motivated because he had to be at college.

There's a lot of misunderstanding in this thread...

There's a huge difference between

Bad attitude
Inconsistent
"Doesn't get it"
...

Zeebo, boogie are guys who had bad attitudes
Drummond, Lowry were guys who were in consistent
jr smith is someone who doesn't get it

Huge huge difference between the 3

See everytime I saw him, I didn't see him as lazy, but rather just being part of the Kansas system. They posted up the senior guy (can't remember his name) a ton and made Wiggins a perimeter bail out.

I think he was trying more to blend it and follow what his coach wanted, rather than being lazy or unmotivated.
