He was partying at the pool I worked at over the summer. I wouldn't be surprised if he is actually heavier than that. He kept partying all day there

He's built like Ron Arrest or Rick Fox, who were both played at 250+ lbs. It's not unprecedented. Heavy-legged guys are often heavier than they look.
Always remember, my friend: the world will change again. And you may have to come back through everywhere you've been.

Left the NBA or some years. And then came back

How many guys are out of the NBA and make their way back to being a role player?

Actually I think we are collecting them. PJ Tucker, Gerald Green and now Sonny Weems.

People don't seem to realize that a lot of players are relatively underweight for their height. 240 - 280lbs when you're 6'6+ doesn't seem as huge as you would think when compared to someone who's 5'8 - 6' and 240+.

Damn is he really? He doesn't look 245, must be a good lean 245 lbs.

Good necro topic.

BTW, Barkley was never an "NBA" 6' 6'".

In shoes he was 6' 8", and NBA players often cheat their height up 1". So Barkley could probably see eye to eye with NBA players who were listed at 6' 8" or 6' 9".

Image

He just came from an old school breed of players that didn't feel the need to play games with their height measurements.

Barkley was basically eye to eye with 6' 9" Magic.

Barkley was measured 6'5 at the Olympics... They measure by centimeters... 196Cm.
They measure on socks.

That mug shot was taken from a low angle.

Magic Johnson was measured 201cm without shoes... Which was 6'7 or 6'7.5.... Around 6'9 without shoes.

Camera angles can make people taller or shorter.

Relative to what? Nine-point-nine out of ten people who weigh 240+ at 5'8" are firmly obese or grossly obese. Even for someone 6'5"+, 240 is a decent amount of weight to carry and 280 will be overweight unless you're freakishly ripped or approaching seven feet.

A lot of sources list the player's combine weight and never update it. PJ has been in the league for a decade.

He's a bit chunky, a more PP build as someone mentioned earlier. He's not pure muscle like LeBron is.

Lol, what? That doesn't make them "underweight", a 5'8-6' person at 240+ lbs is obese...

A normal person should be 210 at 6'6. NBA Players in this era aren't underweight. It isn't the 7'2 220lbs KAJ era.

I swear Barkley loses an inch in height every decade. People will claim he was 5'11" in 2050.

Johnson's got a good build, still has a bit of puppy fat to shed in the next offseason or 2, can see here though that he's got tree trunks for legs.

But looking at the kid you can tell he's around that 235-245lb mark, just has to get confident using his frame to his advantage, as it stands he hasn't worked it out or doesn't have the confidence to use it in an NBA game just yet.

Did either of you read what I wrote? I said 240+ would look a lot more significant on someone with a more average frame, aka the average Joe that's 5'8 - 6'. Obviously someone that's 5'8, 240 is going to look a lot more bigger and wider than someone that's 6'5 and the same weight. If you're 6'4 - 6'8ish and you're hovering low 200s, you're underweight. Step into any DIII football program and every single coach would agree.

When I saw this thread was bumped from months ago, how did I instantly know who the culprit was?
