His potential is Hakeem level yes but i don't think he is ever healthy enough to reach it.

I just don't see him anywhere near that athletic. I see him more skilled in the post but if anything Embiid reminds me of Patrick Ewing, Jermain Oneal.

He's not gonna grab rebounds cause he's the highest or fastest leaper, that's more Noels style. He'll grab then because he boxes out, has the right timing. I think he's a post up player, never to be confused with any form of the word stretch. Ibaka is more of a stretch big.

Ceiling is Anthony Davis in terms of games played per season.

Who's the last player to miss the first two years after being drafted due to injury and turn out good?

Geez, can the kid play 1 full season? Right now KAT is the best big man prospect since Dwight and Duncan. Embiid isn't even as talented as him.

I'm sure at 7'2" he has to have ceilings higher than you and I. That and the fact he's getting millions of dollars already with never playing a game. At this point considering shaq probably has much bigger mansions, i bet his ceilings are higher.

There's a good chance his ceiling isn't as high as it used to be due to the injuries. Let's wait to see him play a full season first.

I loved his potential but at this point, it seems like it'd take a miracle just to get him out of rehab, on the bench and eventually into the rotation. That's his real ceiling right now - serviceable big guy. Once he hits that level, then he can start working his way up.

The doctors say his foot is fully healed and basically at 100%.

People have to remember that his foot injury is very different than other Centers. His injury was caught early unlike Walton and treated very aggressively unlike Yao. Unfortunately, Embiid got bad advice and underwent a surgery that he shouldn't have had just before the draft. It almost healed nevertheless and there certainly was an option for him to play last year but with a small defect in the bone. After extensive consultation it was decided that his chances for a full career would be better after the operation he should have had the first time and was done by the guy who did Durant's surgery. That same doctor said Embiid's bone looked great during the surgery and his injury was less severe than Durant's injury.

He has been playing full-court 5-on-5 for a month or two now at the Sixers facility. The Sixers brass is just following out Hinkie and Orthopedics protocol to slowly build up his bone strength after two prolonged periods of non-weightbearing.

He has no restrictions in cutting and jumping.

Anyhow, I don't know how things are going to go for the kid but his foot is fully healed. Sixers fans have been waiting 2 years for the kid so we're really excited for training camp which is only about 2 months away now.

If you are talking about how good a player he can be, instead of how tall the ceilings are in his house, then you are just crazy.

Embiid may soon enter the Anthony Randolph level of unreasonable expectations. Anthony "Magic" Randolph and Joel "Dream" Embiid.

In seriousness though, Embiid probably has more likelihood to reach his talent, but it's been two years since he's been healthy and has never played against men over 82 games, so we'll see.

This thread is the BIGGEST INSULT TO HAKEEM & SHAQ. Those are 2 of the 5 greatest centers EVER. At this point, Embiid would be lucky to scratch Bynum's nuts. His ceiling is playing in the NBA. The overhype of Africans is ridiculous. Very, very few of them have panned out and Embiid is not one of them.

Well I mean before his injuries put him out and set him back ALOT, he could have been the GOAT center, but being injured for almost 3 years his ceiling is definitely not the same.

I hope the best for him, but there's a very short list of centers who came back from injuries like his, let alone being injured in college to your 3rd NBA season. Expectations were sky high for the kid when he got drafted, but then set back after set back.
(Reports of him not caring, not wanting to rehab, eating unhealthily, gaining weight etc)

Like I said though, I hope he can stay healthy first, and then worry about how good he can become.

Maybe he proves science, and logic wrong and comes back better than ever, only time can tell.

Shaq or Hakeem haha. Did they also miss 2 full seasons to serious injuries? Embiid should be happy if he's still in the league when he's 30.

Is this thread a joke?
Can we please let the kid play a few games before comparing him to 2 of the all time greats.
