Agreed. I don’t even think it’s that funny.

This has nothing to with being offended; that card is old. It’s just not funny. I guess we need to get a quadriplegic to instagram post himself “satirizing” a paraplegic

These were my thoughts. Not offended or anything but didn’t care for it. Didn’t think it was cool or funny. Unnecessary if anything.

A dude who beat cancer and lost his leg is supposed to worry about the feelings of a multi-millionaire who will make a full recovery and have his leg back? Jesus.....

Ummm....We actually have the right to make fun of anyone we'd like at any time. We just have to realize that there may be consequences.

Personally I have no problem with a guy missing a leg having a little fun for Halloween. Hayward may care he may not. If I was Hayward, I'd be more worried about the first time he goes back to play a game in Utah.

Yes, he has a right legally to make fun of whoever he wants.

Doesn't mean it's not in poor taste, amputee or not.

Well why should he care what you think? Lots of us think its funny.

Are we doing comparative suffering to determine whether something is okay? I'm all for inappropriate humor, nothing is sacred. I don't see anything wrong with this costume at all, but if you wouldn't make fun of a guy on the same level as you you shouldn't fun of a guy because he's richer than you. It's not like if I win the lottery I suddenly don't have feelings anymore.

The guy lives life without his left leg and foot, I think he’s earned a little leeway on making jokes on the subject.

Actually I don’t think you do get it, but maybe you’re just lacking a sense of humor in general. That and where the compassion on this subject should actually be placed if you’re going to insist on taking such a stance.

No, I don't lack a sense of humor, but I think making fun of someone that just broke his leg, ruining his season and possibly his career in the process isn't funny. If you think that's funny and it's cool to do just to get a few laughs at a Halloween party by all means.

Joan Rivers made a long career out of making jokes about people who went through a lot more than Gordon Hayward. Anthony Jeselnik makes jokes about tragedies the day that they happen. Jimmy Carr can make jokes about millions of people dying that leave you howling in laughter. Tragedy can be funny, but the joke HAS to be funny. Otherwise you just come off as a jerk.

I don't see anything funny or cool about this. A person missing both legs or arms making fun of this guy would be funny too i guess?People would be comparing who has it worse (like they are doing it here already) and judging accordingly if it's funny or not? :noway:

A year from now Hayward is gonna be running on two legs still making millions of dollars. His injury was gruesome to watch, but he's gonna make a full recovery will live his life as if he didn't miss a beat.

Like that other poster said, it's not offensive. It's potentially insensitive to an individual but that's just up to Gordon.

It just isn't funny at all though.

Stupid people who have lost a leg to cancer. When will they learn they need to respect those of us with fully functional bodies, especially pro athletes? The nerve.

Seriously though, this totally puts the whole situation into perspective IMO. Some people have serious, permanent issues in their life, and they aren't getting paid 30 million a year to rehab. Hayward didn't even tear any ligaments/tendons. Every year we have more serious injuries when players tear their ACL. But those injuries don't appear as gruesome because we can't see with our eyes the damage being done. Hayward is going to be just fine, while this other guy will spend the rest of his life with one leg. If anybody deserves some slack here, it's the guy who has real life issues to deal with, not the guy who will get paid 30 million to rehab, and then return to a life most of us could never dream of.
New York said Mitchell wasn't the guy you trade the sink for, then they traded it for Mikal, lol.

It's satire.

No, actually it’s not. Here’s the definition of satire:

the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.

You mind pointing out what is stupid or bad about Gordon breaking his leg, or what issue is being criticized???

How about the fact that Halloween celebrates things like death and gore, but a broken leg is supposed to be off limits?

It's ok to go as a dead celebrity, but a guy with a broken leg is going too far? Pretty stupid.

All these oversensitive types really suck at Halloween. You're the guys who end up letting some girl talk you into dressing up as raggedy andy, because you think she'll like you more, when she's really planning on dumping you at the party for the guy dressed up as a zombie.

If a costume doesn't upset someone, you did it wrong. This is great! Though for the life of me how people are getting upset is just beyond me.

To be fair his argument is still better than yours, even with the raggedy andy thing.
