He’s got talent, but not really a role player skill set. He should have been able to make 3’s for us at least. He should tear it up in Europe or China, maybe he gets one more shot at the NBA before that happens.

No. You're missing the point. Critics will say what's wrong with the dish or movie, not just say "FOOD SUCKS". Everyone sounds like a moron who says he sucks.

are you - by any chance - still very young?

you may not realize this, but you are losing the argument by a mile and you are also contradicting yourself to go along with it.
e.g. you criticize fans because they generalize a players performance with two words without having any experience on the actual field. at the same time you call everyone doing so "morons" because you yourself are generalizing their ability to distinguish talent without knowing them in person. does that sound like hypocracy to you? who gave you the power to make differential diagnosis on someones mental health? maybe you are a doctor ?-)

back to topic, of course fans can evaluate a player with a few words. you don't have to be an actor to recognize bad acting skills. you compare the subject with similar subjects from the field and come to a conclusion. thats the same method we fans use to evaluate a players skill relatively to his peers.

Bud.

IDGAF if you think I'm winning or losing an argument. I know what I'm saying is correct. There's a massive difference in saying, "player X sucks" versus "player X got cut because of A, B, and C." When someone says "player X sucks", but they are infinitely better than you at what they suck at, it's the most ignorant and uneducated thing to say because they definitely don't suck at what they do relative to YOU. So go ahead bud, keep saying that he sucks while Abdel Nader continues to play basketball for a living while you just dream of doing so.

Of course you are losing the argument because you are wrong. Check how many people in this thread have disagreed with you and then check how many have agreed. I didn't see a single agreement. Do you really think everyone is wrong and you are right? Oh please. Of course basketball fans are able to tell apart players who are in the bottom 5% of the NBA from players who are average or better. When it's a gap this big it's normal to say the bad player sucks compared to others.

Do you really think I care if I get people to agree with me? Here's a hint bud: I don't.

What I'm saying is have some respect for these guys and what they do. Going around and saying a guy sucks is so disrespectful to the work that he's put in to get to this point. At the same time it's uneducated and ignorant and makes whoever says it sound like an idiot.

So do yourself a favor bud. Don't go around saying "xxx sucks" about whatever you're talking about. Have an educated opinion and research why a player isn't good, why a movie isn't good, why the food tastes bad, etc. It makes for an enlightened opinion, and for better conversation, instead of dumbing yourself down and saying "THIS SUCKS".

your opinion sucks.

by your logic, i can say this because my opinion is better than yours as demonstrated by people who agree with this view.

Wasn't he like the 58th pick or something? What are people hoping for with that? Another Manu Ginobili?

Us Celtics fans believed he'd be the next Michael Jordan.

Are you Nader's mom? No, I agree that saying someone sucks is rude, and I usually try not to tell it, but he is professional who makes hundreds of thousands of dollars. The bar is high at that point and its a fair game. What if no one was allowed to tell anyone that they suck at their job, when you get paid, and you dont deliver, guess what - you suck.

I was so curious as to how this thread of all threads got to be 3 pages, so I had to click and read it.

Contestedlayups is cracking me up in this one with how wrong he is and his refusal to accept it.

Well worth the read, thanks RealGM :)
