Equal pay for equal work. They both play basketball, one gets paid a boatload of money more for the same work. This is textbook sexism on multiple levels.

I'd take them more seriously if they compared their pay to equally sized men's leagues not to the biggest league in the world. The men's league here has similar attendance figures, no idea on the profits but I believe the men here make around the same money as the wnba players once you convert currency. I'm sure they can find some euro league with similar attendance and profits and compare their salaries to that. Sports are the entertainment industry and you can only make what you can bring in in entertainment, a model posing for the cover of their local supermarket cataloger isn't owed the same as a model posing for the cover of vogue

What will they criticize next? Companies like Nike, Coca Cola and others as they pay the NBA players way more than them?

Been saying this about the porn industry for ages. Those studs deserve a solid raise. Just the thought of hard working chaps like Mandingo & Lex Steele being so severely underpaid drives me nuts.

If Lex Steele agrees to take Mandingo’s abnormally large endowment in his backside hole, he should be paid the same amount that Tori Black gets paid for the same act.

So you've just completely destroyed your point about equal work.

Look man, I'm rooting for the WNBA and would def go to a game if asked, but if people aren't into it they're not into it. If they can get a bigger piece of the pie then they should get a bigger piece of the pay.

Please. NBA player and G league player does the same job too. You get as much as your league brings, now the reasons why WNBA is not popular could be sexist, but its mostly the fact that the product is nowhere as appealing to customer.

well id like to get millions for posting on instagram like selena gomez or kylie jenner but like with the WNBA and NBA there just isnt enough people watching to generate the money to pay me those millions.

We had this discussion in the netherlands with the Football teams(men/woman) mens didnt really prestate to anything while the woman became worldchampions. now the woman complaining they did better then the men so they should earn as much or more. But the fact that the mens team still generates 10x as much money when having a bad WK or EK then the women did when becoming worldchampions makes this whole pay gap.

And if people want to say its equal work so equal payment. Put bench players who dont even play in the NBA in WNBA and they are MVP's lol.

I lay basketball too and get paid even less that WNBA players. Even I have to pay for using the court in private gyms.

Would be better to try to get WNBA exposure without making crazy comparisons, just hurts their cause.

The WNBA needs to change the product they're offering.

People just aren't interested in the current iteration. Their game isn't as exciting. It's more fundamentals based and while I'm sure basketball purists love it, you're never going to get a casual fan interested. There isn't really a solution to that other than fundamentally changing the game.

I honestly can't think of a good solution unfortunately. Lower the rim? Add a 4 point shot? I just think they need something drastic if they want to move towards the NBA at all.

It should be pretty clear at this point that playing the same game isn't going to yield anything close to the same revenues. Either accept that or be prepared to make the kind of wholesale changes that might actually bring about the kind of interest that the NBA get.

It's simple economics. Not sure what's so hard to comprehend to be honest.

Except professional basketball is entertainment and men and women differ as to what they view as entertaining. Generally speaking, they spend their entertainment dollars differently. If a male version of the Hallmark channel failed, would anyone decry that as sexist, or would be say it was a dumb idea because there wasn't a market for it?

You want me to watch 24 minutes of a YouTube video on the payment structure of the WNBA so I can see that someone was proven wrong? When I don’t even watch the WNBA? ****, that’s never happening. I mean maybe some target times or coles notes,

Long article, but claims that women are the problem for WNBA's woes/pay, not men. Agreed. More women are fans of male sports than they are of women's pro hoops.

Actually this is a myth as well. GOAT-level performer Johnny Sins just did a YouTube vlog where he tackled this subject.
