Is he expecting Luka to get seriously injured? Is this a jinx? That’s the only way this comes true.

Young just beat my clips but I’m rooting for him I can’t stand a lot of Luka fans. I know he’s the next great hope for some but this man is treated like he’s won every award already. I hope Young in his own way surpasses Luka

You find a way of answering the question without talking about Doncic, who is vastly superior. By projecting so far into the future all he's done is essentially disrespect Doncic.

Feel bad for him to constantly getting asked that question. I think he answered it perfectly though.

Self-motivation in sports is underrated, extreme confidence is overrated.

For every star there are dozens of benchwarmers that said the same thing at one point or another. Trevor Ariza was cocky as hell about how he was better than LeBron.

Let your game do the talking.

I'm a first Luka fan but this continous parallel between Doncic and Trae should be stop.

I don't find nothing wrong in the Trae words:
"Luka's having a really good year so far. And for me, all I do is try to focus on myself and my team. I know it's easy to say, but I'm really dedicated to working extremely hard every day for my teammates and things like that.

"And I think at the end of the day it worked out for both teams," he added. "That's how I look at it. I mean, Luka's doing really well. I feel like I'm doing really well as well."

I'm see Luka peak as top5 player in the league and Trae peak as top25 in the league... the confidence specially in a rookie is important

Was kinda hoping this thread wouldn't come up or that people will just ignore what was said. It's really getting old at this point. Plus they are apparently friends and also competitors, so it would be weird if Trae said that he has no chance against him lol. And like i said many times Trae and Hawks are fun to watch. Collins and Huerter are balling. They'll be really good in some time.

I think he's like 6 for 6 with the media. Even if I don't agree with the statement per se, it was the right way to approach it. Kudos to him, really rooting for him now and for the Huerter/Collins/Young trio to be a real thing.

good attitude I guess, but its cheap to say that, cause 5-10 years is not now and is away. How about you be better than Doncic now... Reminds me of Hezonja, who claimed he will be NBA star, but at that moment, couldnt beat Brad Oleson in Barcelona rotation. Yeah, sure buddy.

Yep he's a smooth talker... That one. Too bad for him it ain't true and he probably believes it is true. I mean if all you can say is I'll be better in years to come than arguably the kid who's on course to being and already breaking records the best rookie stat getter in NBA history in Luka Doncic...you got some serious jealousy or just don't want to field the questions after your gm clearly picked the wrong guy and everyone knows it .
But yeah he said all the right things ...all the right bs

which means at that point Doncic will have ammassed 5 or 6 better seasons though. Nobody cares who will be better than the other in a specific time-point like 10 years or 6 or 7. There's no prize for being better than the other only after a certain age, unless we're talking about early 20s. Doncic is already gaining a good advantage in career value.
Also, I believe 10 years are too much for a linear growth. Usually people reach their best before they hit 30. We'll see their best versions going against each other in 5-7 years at worst unless Trae is Steve Nash.

Trae has been amazing too. Atlanta started the season 6-23 contesting for the 1st overall pick but in their last 20 games (so a quarter season) they're 10-10 with Trae averaging 18/4/8 (21/5/9 per 36) on 58 TS%. Is he as good as Luka? Nope, but is he amazing for a rookie PG? Most definitely.

He's good enough so far to make the decision to take him over Luka make sense (from the standpoint that he's extremely talented in his own right and they got another pick out the trade).

Almost as good as a 35/12/10 triple double.

Luka is the best prospect to come into the NBA in the last 10 years or more. You'll always be in his shadow... Sorry kid.
