The fact that he's restricted helps a lot. I'd only pay him that if no other big free agents wanted to sign (Kawhi, Butler etc. are rumored to be interested).

They already have Dinwiddie on a fantastic contract and they could just sign a backup PG

Haha... no way.

No one else is going to give him that contract. Let him try... then sign him to a sane deal. If someone else wants to pay him max... good for them.

He’ll get *multiple max 4 year max offers this off season.

If he doesn’t receive his full 5 year max with the Nets he’ll get it in 4 years no doubt.

no.

he is fools gold.
puting numbers in a mediocre team on the mediocre east and being selected to all star out of lack of competition because of the average mediocrity...........and only because some dude got injured.

You give him a max and you will be atteching 2 first rounders to get rid of him by year three.

Certainly not as bad as giving away future all star D’Angelo Russell right ?

If I'm a top FA I know what NY team I'm looking at, and it's definitely not the Knicks. Wouldn't surprise me if they end up having a better summer than the Knicks.

He's an all-star in the East because some guys got hurt. He's a high usage volume shooter who isn't great from 3. He's not the kind of point guard you want playing next to Lebron. His usage is almost identical to LeBron. The only negative is that trading him led Magic to drafting Lonzo.

He’s a 22 year old all star who is marketable. I think they should give it to him.

Rule of thumb is you dont max a point guard as long as its unavoidable.

Hell no. He's had a good season, but don't lock yourself into a max deal for a fringe All Star. You have to spend you're money more wisely than that.

I honestly don't think it's happening. Even if Orlando or Phoenix offers him the max. His contract will depend on what recruiting they do for that max space.

Agreed. They should just look at Danny Ainge if he's willing to pay Kyrie that max or he'd rather give that amount to AD. That's a sign.

He's only an allstar because 1. Oladipo got hurt, 2. He is in the Eastern Conference. He is nowhere near max player.

if Booker got the max why shouldn't D Lo?

not that I thought Booker should've gotten it, but that's another discussion.

I'd go 5 @ $125 mill, but not full max.
And obviously that's assuming he's been a good locker room guy and has shown a good work ethic and a willingness to work with the coaching staff.

I'd rather him than Booker but wouldn't want to max him either. 5/$100ish would be what I'd hope is the high end.
