Heck, after 10 minutes chasing these guys around and trying to get even semi open we would be dead on our feet.

Im a decent player but I know for a fact I'm not getting anything against NBA guys.

I would probably sit myself after 10 minutes going 0 for 5 and turning the ball over three times.

The correct defensive strategy would be to leave me extremely wide open and encourage me to shoot, so as long as someone has sufficiently bribed my coach into letting me put up shots I could probably score 4-6 points on 20fga.

My 3-year-old niece thinks I'm pretty good at nerf mini-basketball though, so there's that.

Seriously...I wonder how many posters have actually played basketball at the collegiate level. I was pretty good in high school, and had no shortage of confidence, but boy was that a different story when I got to the next level. Got humbled real fast.

First of all this is completely situational,
Although having versed 6'9/ 6'10 crazy elite athletes I know I can score on them, although not off the dribble.
Itd all be spot up 3s, and cuts, this means I will rely on having good teammates.
Now one major problem with this is what is the team trying?
Am I the guy? Are they trying to see the max I can get? If so maybe on a good night with good teammates I could drop 20-25points (in a team tnat scores around 50) though average probably 16ppg
Am I playing as a role player? If I play like Joe Ingles, and focus on being efficent it probably drops to around 5ppg if i get about 20-25 minutes.
If I am scrub? I would be afraid to shoot it, in about 5 minutes i may chuck up 1 or 2 shots averaging 0.5pts or so...

Btw I am a 6'5, 6'8 wingspan, as such not terrible defender, decent athletically but nothing special, 30% from a shorter 3 (FIBA), but have only 1 other true playmaker on my team so most shots are contested or off the dribble.
When alongside even decent passers I become a 40% shooter from a good meter back from the FIBA line

But then nerves and how much prep I get would all come into this.
A lot of variables though I definetly getting dunked on, and blocked at least once no matter what.

Think about this. If you do that, your opponent will not deploy a dedicated defender to cover you just so you don't score uncontested layups. Instead they will play 5 on 4 offense, keep moving the ball until they can get a sure basket, then the nearest guy to the midcourt will just take a few steps back to intercept those full court pass (and that's if your teammates are quick enough to missile them out to you).

That 1 assist obviously when I hand the ball 1 feet away from the player.

If Matthew Dellavedova can score 10-15 points in a game I can score 5+ off the bench I can guarantee that.

Think about some of the Amatuers who are in the bench rotations. Yeah you ain't scoring against starting caliber players but Andrew Bogut isn't that good in the NBL full of ok Australian basketballers and was a No.1 pick who was a legit DPOY candidate in the NBA who could score 10-15 with ease.

I had a dream a few years back which I wrote down so I wouldn't forget it, I don't think I ever will even if I didn't write it down, but there was a flu or something going around, and the team (Magic) got hit hard, I think there were 3 players able to play. I was sitting directly behind the Magics bench, and talked Frank Vogel into letting me play somehow. I remember shooting a 3 the very first possession but air-balling it badly, and only scoring in the paint the rest of the time I played. I ended the half with 17 points on crazy usage and 0 assists. We go into the locker room and Jason Williams is there, him and Vogel talk to me and tell me i'm being a ball-hog and won't play the 2nd half. Great dream, but no idea why Jason Williams was there.

Also, i'd score exactly 0 points in an NBA game.

If I could move around the deep 3 area and put up 12 shots I could probably could get 12 points and a couple of assists, my opposing player would get 50.

If I was defended out at the deep 3 area then I could get 0.

If you are shooting 33% from deep three, you'd likely make an NBA roster.

I shoot better than that, 40%+ in rec league, 70% in practice. I am nowhere near an NBA roster, I think shooting is overrated because anyone with a hoop can practice to shoot well. NBA isn't full of guys with backyards, it's full of athletes. Even Division is for athletes. I'm not an athlete. I've become a better shooter as I've become less athletic as well.

My one dream is to get selected for the half court shop, that is the limit of my basketball life.

Wasn't he just MVP of that league? It's not like he's in his prime either, he's at the tail end of his career so not sure that's a great example.

I think over the course of the season, I'd average about 0.5 ppg. I wouldn't even try shooting. I'd leave that to the professionals and just focus on setting screens, passing, chasing rebounds and diving for loose balls.

Due to my lack of speedy and general clumsiness, I'd always be in someone's way. About once a game an opponent would accidentally run over me like I wasn't even there and get whistled for a foul. I'm normally an 80% FT shooter, but it's harder to shoot when you're peeing yourself. So, I'd probably shoot about 25% and make one of every four FTs. So yeah, 0.5 ppg sounds about right.

As long as they pay me the minimum salary, I'd be cool with that. Hell, if they let me play, I'll pay them the minimum salary. GM's would love me. Need to reduce your salary cap, sign BNM. He'll pay you to play.
