They could of course have a disappointing season while Ainge stubbornly refuses to make a move, but I don't think the Celtics fanbase will stand for that.
If the Pistons want to blow it up. Drummond for Brown and Langford.

You lose Morris, Horford, and Baynes, replace that with Kanter and what did they expect?Instead of talking about the Celts being a top 4 Eastern team and whether Kemba could replace Kyrie , they needed to be asking if they can even make the playoffs as a "donut" team.
It has been extremely under reported exactly what they lost outside of Kyrie....
-They had 3 bigs who could defend, and in horfords case at an extremely high level (Horford, morris, baynes).
-Those 3 bigs also stretched the floor. Morris and Horford are 2 guys you can space the floor with without going small.
-They lost NBA calibur depth. Maybe a young guy steps up, but right now they really only go 7 deep with nba players. and when we talk about depth, its not just the bench playing well, its having nba level players to step in and start when injuries happen
It has been reported many times how the biggest loss is our big men.

Re: Celtics exposed?
I still say they should have kept Rozier at around $15-$16 million and use any remaining money on a big. Kemba signing kind of tied up the team financially but the team had to save face after losing Kyrie.

That is a rough looking frontcourt for sure

They need to start Smart. Bring Hayward off the bench

Interesting how things change
when did baynes ever suck? he is someone constantly on the T&T board other teams fans wanted coming their way. maybe he wasnt the demi-gods C's fans thought he was, but he is as solid a backup C you will find and certainly a plus defender
Morris was certainly not a horrific defender by any measure or the eye test. boston was 5.1 points per 100 possesions better with morris on the floor defensively. middle of the pack in RPM, middle of the pack in RAPM.
plus you could put him on the court to stretch the floor and sitll have ok size and defense vs bigs. boston doesnt have that now. any floor spacer at the 4 (tatum, hayward, or brown) is going to be small and make their interior D even worse.
and compared to kanter, morris is a DPOTY type

I mean people were lumping them in with INDY, TOR and saying they were clearly better then BK still when it's likely that BOS will be fighting with DET, ORL, MIA in the 5-8 range.
Fit and cohesion go a long way and BOS fans kept saying that now that Kyrie is gone it will be better. That may be true where they get along better but fit wise Kemba is a just worse version of Kyrie. If they wanted to kill Kyrie for not being a play maker why is Kemba going to all of a sudden be that and more. It's going to take a massive leap from Tatum, Brown, or Hayward bounce back to keep them going. If an injury hits to one of their top 4 players they are going to struggle for sure.
Depth is key more so in the regular season and BOS is lacking in that area for sure. I still think they edge in to the playoffs and will not be a cake walk due to their lack of depth not being an issue so much in the playoffs but they better hope CHI, ATL don't have a good season because they could be the team to slip out if things go south.
yeah i dont think it really matters if kemba plays as well or better then kyrie did or is a better chemistry fit. the other losses were monumental and they didnt really fix their too many guys who need shots problem
They replaced one of the better, more versatile defending bigs with one of the worst defending bigs in the league. and they didnt replace any of their 3 stretch bigs with someone who can space the floor. unless they want to go super small all the time or play theis a ton floor spacing could be an issue
they also are replacing 3 starters. so as much as they may like how the personalities fit, thats alot to gain chemistry on floor with
the depth thing is huge. as you said an injury and they could see a long losing streak
Yeah I didn't even touch on the front court which is a huge issue obviously. I was mainly suggesting Kemba isn't a better playmaker that fits better then Kyrie where he'll get the others involved better like a true PG. Kemba is similar to Kyrie just not as good.

Agreed. They need a good wing defender on the floor and Smart has even started hitting open 3's at a decent clip so his fit is so much better. They likely also need to start the best rim protector they have and not Kanter. Having a bench with Heyward/Kanter will at least give them a scoring punch off the bench that they can rely on.

Plus it will let Hayward run more of a point guard role like he did last season. Have the ball in his hands pretty much at all times with the bench crew.

Don't know how a team can get exposed in pre-season, or exposed in this manner in general when A LOT of people have been claiming the interior defense was going to be a huge problem for Boston as soon as Horford left.

I agree. Marcus Smart must start. But for this lineup, I think Hayward is a must start also, because Kemba isn't a real facilitator. The only problem with starting Hayward is that could conjure up some more of the locker room stuff with Jaylen Brown.

They needed to trade for Anthony Davis but Ainge refused to include Tatum. His call.

Re: Celtics exposed?
I legit have no idea what this thread is about. We've played one preseason game and won it. And I'd be surprised if more than 5 non-celtics fans on here even watched the game. This is just a random, general "feel good" thread for Celtic haters I guess?

If you think Morris is horrible, what would you call Kanter?

You know exactly what it's about. You saw the game, and you saw the Charlotte Guards, running past Kanter like a traffic cone. That's what the OP is saying.

Re: Celtics exposed?
they lost horford and baynes both of which were massive with the way they play and like it or not downgraded kyrie. These tv experts are usually ****, similar situation with the sixers, butler was their go to down the stretch and jj/embiid 2 man game was lethal. Everyone is acting like thye just added horford to that.
