i can tell you this. if it was in the states, a lot of people would be complaining and the coach would have to hold a presser

The Euroleague is definitely tougher (not better) than the NBA. In the Euroleague every regular season game matters, which is not the case in the NBA. The intensity level in the NBA in the regular season is really low.

Well, maybe not everyone wants to agree with Obra's methods and what he is saying but he had to do it.
For anyone who watches Euroleague games they would know how **** Fener is playing. And that's not because they lack talent or something but because some guys there seem to be lazy or not caring at all.

I think this FU stuff was not only for this game but for all the other loses as well.

People have to understand that Obra did not become stupid or a bad coach in a year - he is probably the best Euroleague coach in history. So many titles, so many final four appearances, etc.

If you look at coaches resume you'll see that he's like Popovic here in Europe and judging by results he's even better.

And another thing say what you want but Obra is angry - he's angry because he cares and look at some of his guys and their reaction... It tells you all the story who's right and who's not and it does not matter that it could have been said in a better way.

He is probably the greatest Euroleague coach ever, he is Euro version of Popovich. He had great success with his current team Fenerbachche, of course it has a lot to do with team getting big budget, but this year, his team that suppose to be one of Euroleague favorites, are stinking it up completely. The worst start Obradovich has ever had, for comparison, last season Fenerbachce lost 5 games entire regular season, while this year they are 2-6 already. TO imply that Obradovich could be on a hot seat is insane, but who the hell knows with this current start and this latest meltdown.

Obradovic is also know for coaching up a lot of players who later became NBA players, Just out of top of my head in recent years he coached both Bogdanovic'es, Brad Wanamaker, Marko Guduric and Nemanja Bjelica.

A lot of fans didnt take Mike James very seriously, in the past seasons he was ultimate low efficiency chucker, he obviously was very talented, but that didnt translate to actual winning production. When Ettore Messina became Milan coach, they had an ugly divorce, Messine didnt want PG like James at all, they basically cut him and denounced him complete. But European powerhouse CSKA Moscow gave him a chance this year and hes been awesome. He is scoring a ton with great percentages and looks like a star.

Speaking about that Latvian guy, Janis Strelnieks. Latvians have a golden generation of shooters, they can assmeble a starting 5 of world class shooters right now, you are obvously aware of Davis Bertans and Kristaps Porzingis, but in Europe they have Davis' borther Dairis Bertans, who is lethal, then they have mentioned Janis Strelnieks, Jannis Timma is ptobably the best SF right now in the EUroleague, and they also have Kurucs and upcoming prospect Zagars, who gives me Navarro vibes.

Unfortunately it's so true.
Pop is probably the last of it's kind and as we saw nowadays stars (Kawhi..) don't like him anymore.

I am not talking about Pat Riley while being young and similar examples...

Nowadays NBA coaches are like NBA star assistants or secretaries and only exist to make those stars life easier.

How about you share some intense NBA timeouts, where the coach curses his players out at a similar level im recent time.

EDIT: Nope. Just about to turn 32. Thought he was way older for some reason.

Reason is his look and his beard. When you see him at floor, he looks like he just left the cave to join basketball team.

Still remember him being super young coming out of nowhere and hitting some 3s at great rate for Montepaschi. TO me Datome will always be that young guy. I honestly thought Italian national team gonna be the next great thing with great talents in Bargnani, Bellineli, Gallinari, Datome and Mancineli. Some of those guys turned out OK individually, but never became a cog of great team, in fact, Italy hit a historic low during Bargnani era, which was probably no coincidence.

Situation is different in NBA. Fans come to watch them and players know that and owners know that. So there's no way coaches have more power than players. Talking about superstars and some stars. Role players still do what coach asks them to do. In Europe fans come to watch teams, they don't care that much about who are playing, so this leaves more power to the coach. Specially coaches who have succeeded. Because if team doesn't succeed and you have good reputation as a coach then it is possible that players are kicked out instead of coach.

Does this kind of screaming work? It works on some adult players while some react to it negatively. Competitive players might even start thinking I f**king show that coach I'm better he claims me to be and start playing better. Some might react F that coach. I'm not trying as long he is here.

Obradovic coached Sarunas for three years, this is what he learned amongst other things.

Correct, and even though we say that there are no superstars in Euroleague as there are in NBA, the guy who is screamed at in this video is probably a TOP 5 center in Europe today.

Obra was as well saying FU not to some rookies, but to some of guys who are well respected players in Europe.

So some coaches in Europe are "screaming" at stars (Europe-wise). These guys are not some rookies - they can get solid contracts in serious European Clubs.

I know man, I'm a Serb. There's a legendary presser after we shat over ourselves in EURO 2005 played in Serbia, where expectations were sky high only to die in the group stage. He basically slammed his players not for their abilities but because of the attitude, internal relationships and beefs, especially criticizing young player and guess who was the youngest great talent back then - that's right, it was Darko.

They cared about taking the last shot, didn't talk to each other, didn't play defense, weren't going back after not receiving a pass... Hilarious stuff, it's 36 minutes long and I'm so sorry there's no English subtitles.

Well, Darko is a special case.
And I feel for you guys as you probably have the love for the game and the best basketball school in Europe which can only be rivalled by Lithuania (but we're a much smaller country with less of talent pool). And sometimes yes - you tend to underachieve...

Obra probably was just piss** by the way they play as they were playing sh***y for the whole year. This wasn't only in regards to this particular game and therefore he exploded.
