Luka Doncic is the best player in the nba

Its still early but I have been saying he's putting up MVP numbers to start the season.

If he can maintain this by All-Star Weekend, the hype will no doubt be justified.

Thank you, he actually is an average defender. Not a terrible one, probably not even a bad one, and yet he already started to suffer from the "white European so he must be a terrible defender" stereotype. His defense is not good, but it's passable, has good hands, and solid against slower guys. Really not that worthy to talk about in either extremes. Just average.

It's gonna be this way, probably for his entire career, and people are just going to repeat it like it's gospel.
Same thing with Dirk, who was actually an average defender in his prime, just got stuck with the bad defender label for his whole career.

I think he could well be the best offensive player in the NBA according to the small sample size we have, but I certainly won’t create a thread about that. There have been more than enough Luka threads lately.

The craziest Luka thing for me is how teams passed on a player who was this can't-miss...

Pure stupidity given how he performed overseas at such a young age, and the way the league had moved.

Indeed. Objectively speaking I don't think a player could have done better in the American college system. Which player in history had a superior pre-NBA résumé?

Seriously? We're 15 games into the season right now. How the hell has he done enough to say he's the best player in the NBA? At least Kawhi had a great playoff run before people jumped on his bandwagon.

Luka is one of the best offensive players, sure. He still has a lot to improve in terms of defense, turnovers and shot selection.

Honestly, his turnovers numbers are not that bad when you consider how much Mavs offense depends on him and how many crazy stuff he tries and more often than not with success.
His shot selection can be better yes, especially perhaps in term of doing more mid range jumpers rather than either going to the basket or doing risky step backs 3's.

We have to wait and see, but he's been the best player in the NBA this year so far. And at only 20, its possible that he isn't even close to his ceiling yet, which is scary

Calling him the best in the league is a bit too far, but he is certainly one of the best. It is ridiculous to say he isn't one of the best when. . . he has been playing as one of the best and is on pace to be all nba first team.

I like Luka but he has no case over Giannis due to the defensive gap. Harden also does what Luka does but does it better. Kawhi is a godly playoff performer and Luka hasn't even played one playoff game. Than still LeBron. Way premature statement.

What the hell does he do better apart provoking fouls and free throws?
Passing? Not even in the same class as Luka and Luka does it with weaker teammates than Harden.
Scoring? Doncic does it already more efficiently, stats prove it.
Renounding? Again, not even in the same class as Doncic

So for someone who likes Doncic, you surely have a strange way to show it....

And no, he’s not. But he’s got an elite trajectory and it was predictably laughable that he slipped to 3rd in the draft when he was clearly a basketball prodigy destined for franchise player status. The real kind, not the fugazy kind.

Him going third will be one of those picks that will be looked on later in confusion. So will the Hawks trading outof that spot, even though they did well with Young.

Almost all true.
But then, I am a little scared of my own opinion about how this season is going to end. All I can say is, if anybody want to stop him, better do it in a regular season. If he drag this team to playoff, he will turn his playoff mode and it will be to late. There will be no wide smiles. Just torture and ... disbelieve on the opponents side. He is now on 50%-60%.

He is a master of adaptation. There is no coach or team or player in today NBA that can stop him in best of 7 series. Best of 3 or maybe best of 5 there are chances. But not in 7 games. He only need one good night sleep after L.

All my claims from one or two years ago was ridiculed. About draft, his translation in NBA...all. They looked then as hyperbolas.
Yet he overachieved everything.

Maybe one more year.
