Giannis
Harden

Doncic

Rest have fallen behind, and Doncic falls as days pass. His hot start to the season has slowed down, while Harden is picking up the pace and erasing the lead Giannis had build early in the season. I was right about Doncic's assists earlier in season, those will drop off massively. It's extremely hard to average triple double.

I don't think record will matter that much between Rockets and Bucks, because Bucks play in significantly weaker division. However what Rockets needs to do if Harden wants to win the MVP is climb preferably to top 2 in the west.

Thing about this is; it's significantly easier to play extremely hard less amount of minutes than high minutes. Game is taxing long term. so projecting and adjusting minutes is very much vague way of determining something as well. In essences, Giannis couldn't product same per xx production in higher amount of minutes played than he does in less minutes played.

No elite teammates, yet they won by double digits un the 3 games he missed. The Bucks have a great team.

Still would vote for Giannis, but Harden is close and is getting the short end because people hate him.

The Rockets had wins of 18, 9, 9, 17, 23, 32 without Harden in Harden's MVP season. Also beat the Warriors (fully healthy) without him last year.

So? That wasn’t what I was arguing if you read correctly?

I was arguing against the «this shouldn’t be close», which makes no sense and is the type of things people say when it’s actually close to try to give more power to there position.

Giannis is the MVP right now. The Bucks are 31-5, the best record in the league by far and they have the best point differential as well. He’s been dominant on both ends — 30/13/6/1.5/1.5.

I’d have Lebron 2nd and Harden a close 3rd. If Houston rises up through the standings and somehow makes the 1st or 2nd seed it could make things interesting.

I agree with your top3.

Just wanted to point out Doncic is still 3rd in assists with 8.9 per game. 9.3 if you don’t count the game that he got injured and only played 2 minutes.

1.) Giannis, 2.) Harden, 3.) Doncic is the race right now. There's still some time for Harden to go for 70 or 80 in a game.

Giannis as a 32% 3pt shooter is really something else.
His current FT%(58%) must be a fluke. He's a career 73% from the line.
If he gets his free throws to his career average and keeps shooting 6-7 3s per game(no reason to think he won't)...well if you consider that he is also a top3 player on the defensive end we can say that he will be among the favorites to win it every year for the next 6-7 seasons.

If MVP was based on production, then I'd have voted for Harden but it isn't. Rockets need to be doing better in the standings.

For those who voting for Luka they should considering also that his team is 5th in the west and actualy tie with the utah jazz. So, there isn't that much chances for him to be MVP. I know i know, i am the party pooper. Back to reality boys. ;) :P

Harden going for 70 or 80 in a game would have 0 impact. Now, if he suddenly could also start anchoring a League leading Defense, Finish as a Top 2 Seed, and improve the team's current Net Rating, then he would start narrowing the gap.

Giannis isn’t anchoring anything. That team is so good it is the most obvious reason why people shouldn’t consider team performance in an absolute sense.

Giannis could miss the season and they’d win 60 games.

Putting Peak Jordan on the Hawks isn’t making Giannis better than him.

Agreed but flip side is two fold. Giannis gets his team infront enough to win faster and therefore doesn't have to play more minutes and secondly Giannis sits whenever possible. Where as we've seen Harden in stat padding this season.

Not sure its fair to hold the division/ conference against the bucks when they are 11-2 vs the west while Houston is 14-7 and Dallas 13-6. Bucks have a better win % vs west teams than any west team does.

Rofl at the idea that a team with 0 All Stars would be capable of winning anywhere near 60 games. I'd bet anything this has never happened before in league history and never even come close

James Harden just showed Giannis how to dominate that Sixers' defense tonight.

Best player in basketball and the MVP.

Force them to play away from home and hit 6 threes instead of franchise record 21.

If Houston gets a top 2 seed, i'd be on the Harden MVP train. 38 ppg on that efficiency is just absolutely bonkers.
