**** heard this on the radio on the way to work. Been a lump in my throat all damn day. Still got another 90 minutes until I can get out of here and put some Kobe highlights on TV. Then get to start mourning all over again.

Even though I wasn't a Laker fan, I appreciated Kobe. I grew up in Chicago during MJs heyday. Watching Kobe tear thru the league gave me an idea of what it was like for the rest of the teams in the 80s and 90s, loving and hating a legendary player at the same time.

These tributes are going to be crazy for the next week or so and during the all star break.Losing Kobe is probably the biggest lose the NBA could take besides MJ,Kobe is arguably the biggest star in the sports world in the last twenty years or so in American. To lose him at 41 to watch seems like pilot error in foggy weather is just beyond belief. Most celebirty go via old age, health issue or drug problems so their death are as shocking as this.

Truly heartbroken over this news and really feel for his wife not only losing her husband but her oldest daughter. The NBA community, fans and everyone needs to reach out the Bryant family at this point and to those who also past away today.

Its so amazing that he found time to mentor all these young up and coming star players and they all felt equally indebted to him.

Kyrie
Giannis
Dame
Tatum
Trey

This man valued people's time and truly wante the next batch of stars to succeed him.

I really feel the emotion when I watch the pre-game 24 second silence for Kobe and than the NBA teams today taking the 24 second violation and 8 second backcourt violation.

Yea wtf was that about? A doubly bad post. Poking fun of Kobe fans on the day Kobe and his daughter die, with a nice addition of joking about suicide to boot. Just an ugly post from him all around.

I'm hoping this guy doesn't put "good communicator" on his job applications.

4:30 PM PT -- L.A. weather was extremely foggy Sunday morning, and law enforcement sources tell us even LAPD air support was grounded because of it. Flight tracker data shows Kobe's chopper appeared to first encounter weather issues as it was above the L.A. Zoo. It circled that area at least 6 times at a very low altitude -- around 875 feet -- perhaps waiting for the fog to clear.

We know the pilot contacted the control tower at Burbank Airport around 9:30 AM PT, and the tower was aware the pilot had been circling for about 15 minutes. The pilot eventually headed north along the 118 freeway before turning to the west, and started following above the 101 freeway around Woodland Hills, CA.

At around 9:40 AM they encounter more weather -- as in seriously heavy fog -- and the chopper turned south. This was critical, because they turned toward a mountainous area. The pilot suddenly and rapidly climbed from about 1200 feet up to 2000 feet.

However, moments later -- around 9:45 AM -- they flew into a mountain at 1700 feet. Flight tracker data shows they were flying at about 161 knots.

wow if this is true

And when we started seeing him be a dad and coaching his daughter, just that clip of him talking hoops with her......it melted away some of my disdain for him. Kobe was a dad, just like me.

This hurts. It really does. Dude broke my heart in 2010. Broke my heart again today. RIP Kobe, and to Gianna as well.

I've felt that way about a lot of athletes. I use to hate Larry Bird with a passion. Its later on that you know that the animosity for a rival player turns to respect.

I just watched on Youtube the tributes at all the NBA games doing a 24 second violation, and at the Pro Bowl they had a moment for Kobe and the whole stadium chanted his name.

There's an old song by Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson called Missing You about how Marvin Gaye left too soon. That's how I feel about Kobe right now.....
I'm so tired of the typical......

Kobe was as fierce a competitor as I've seen in any professional sport. We lost a great today. Rest in Peace Kobe and Gigi Bryant.

It's just weird because when LeBron passed him last night, I ended up watching a bunch of Kobe highlights, and checked out his Instagram. Then to get a message a few hours later that he had died was surreal.

I actually flew in a helicopter before in New York and got dizzy/ nausea eventually and the weather was good that day. I could have died that day. After these recent helicopter crashes, I will never get in an helicopter again.

Hmm the helicopter in the crash wasn't the one he owned. Wonder why they used a different one.

Dude really was one of the most recognizable people on Earth. These tributes halfway around the globe are jarring. The way he moved just makes you want to get your stuff together if you’re slacking. I’m gonna eat nothing but grilled chicken breasts, brown rice, and broccoli like my man did.
