Jordan's been swept and lost in 5 too. Does it not count if it's before the Finals? LeBron should get a goddamn medal just for taking that crap in 2007 and 2018 to the Finals
In 2007 he was on a top 5 defense, and they didn't even beat one 50 win team on the way to the finals. He also was a top 3 seed. Oh and in the first round he played a Wizards team missing its two best players. That run isn't as impressive for me.
And in 2018 he still had Kevin Love, another all-star, in the East, against Derozoan/Lowry/Oladipo/Young Tatum.
In 2007 he was the only reason that team was a top 3 seed. You are using circular logic. That team was total garbage outside of LeBron and they did beat the Pistons, who won 53 games. That was the game LeBron scored like 25 straight points at the end. Talk about carrying a team.
That 2018 team was terrible and had no business beating Boston. LeBron had one of the greatest playoff runs in history and willed them to victory. Would have won game 1 of the Finals too and maybe turned that series a bit if not for bonehead JR Smith and a seriously questionable last minute call for Durant.
For some reason I was thinking Detroit won 49, but I'll take an L on that. I still don't see a 53 win team losing to a 50 win team as any big upset.
My logic isn't circular because my point was Cleveland was a top 5 defense and that is a TEAM effort, not one player. If your saying they made the finals because of Lebron, but then got destroyed in the finals, then you have to acknowledge that it suggests the eastern conference was extremely weak. We can't have it both ways, that he willed them through a tough conference but then got absolutely destroyed in the finals. There is a disconnect if we are placing an amazing value of making it through the conference to the finals, but then in the finals saying "nope, had no chance to win a game even."
And Lebron DID not play good in the 2007 finals either. It wasn't him being let down by his supporting cast en route to sweep. He played a role in that also.
