Shaq averaged 33 and 16 against Mutumbo who was DPOTY at a time when an average team scored 95 points a game. Now teams are averaging 112 points per game.

Shaq is probably still butthurt about the Newspaper in Orlando that asked residents if Shaq was worth $115 million for 7 seasons and 90% of fans said he wasn’t worth it. Then Shaq signed a huge contract with the Lakers and the media criticized him, saying he cared more about money, movies, and rapping than basketball. When the Lakers get swept in the playoffs the media says he’s not worth the money.

This is after Shaq led his team to the Finals, when he’s leading his team in points and rebounds. Then Shaq sees that Gobert, who has won 2 playoff series in his entire life, gets $205 million, and Shaq is angry.

I’m not saying it’s right, but I understand how Shaq feels that way.

Dude you played over a decade ago let it go and find something new to fulfill your fragile male ego Shaq is just one giant baby. Chuck taking jabs at his insecurity was fun for a year or two but it's like Shaq is willing to take the shots in order to still talk about himself. The Trump/Kanye motto of "any attention is good attention"

Let your accolades and how others speak of you be your legacy.

The number one reason he got the max is because Utah as a franchise, cannot and has not attracted all star level talent in free agency. They lost Hayward not too long ago, they have to keep the talent they draft.

Honestly if you are a modern center and Shaq isn't trashing your game at this point, you're doing something wrong

I don't. The common moniker among players is to never count another man's money, it's an unwritten rule but class gets thrown out the window everytime Shaq feels offended by a situation barely even related to him

I don't know why Shaq constantly has to remind everyone how good he was. He wasn't some Kenny Smith type role player. Everyone knows he was one of the most dominant players ever. You'd think he'd have more self-confidence.

Shaq compliments only Giannis. And that's because G doesn't play center. If he was playing C he would have trashed him too.

I really like Shaq aside from his playing days. I enjoy watching him and charles. They're funny.
But every time he picks a(usually weaker than him) target to trash, he becomes insufferable.

I begun to like javale because shaq was trashing him.
I'm not even a fan of gobert.
But man...stfu already.

I think Shaq is upset that Gobert in this contract is making almost as much as he did for his entire career earnings.

But it's a stupid argument. When Shaq signed his LA contract, players were making way more money than in the prior era. Pippen had a 5 year 18m contract with the Bulls in his prime. Guys like David Robinson, Hakeem, Barkley etc. were all making under 7m a year in the mid-1990s.

Guys like Hakeem could have complained years later, but they didn't. Shaq is a baby.

But I won't say his statement is wrong though. Shaq is the most dominant force I have ever witnessed.

I don't think a lot of people realize how dominant Shaq was. He has some really good advanced metrics to, this guy was a beast in the playoffs.

He went to the Finals with three different franchises. He won championships with two of them, and if he got along with Kobe they'd both have more rings. Heck if he's just kept the weight off better (he was much skinnier earlier in his career and quite athletic) he'd have accomplished more.

This is a guy who in his prime was one of the greatest players the NBA has ever seen. He just didn't always play well with others...

That aside, it's kind of ironic how quick people are to defend the guy who mocked Covid, deliberately contaminated stuff, was one of the first to catch it and likely got his own teammates sick.

When Shaq trashed Dwight after he was celebrating his title, I lost a lot of respect for Shaq. Back then, maybe Shaq felt Dwight was getting too much love and he was a threat to Shaq's legacy - which was false. But then he spent all year talking about how good Dwight was for the Lakers and even posting on IG about it. Then when the man wins a ring, for the team you entered the HOF with, he utterly trashes him.

Current players are just incredibly salty nowadays that guys they view as no where near as good as them are getting paid 10x more than they did. It is what it is. Shaq being extra salty is not the least bit surprising. He's a good dude but incredibly petty when it comes to basketball

He was the dominant player of the late 90s to early 2000s, that weird time after Jordan left the Bulls for good and the league was trying to find itself.

Nevertheless, the reason teams scored 95 a game was because offense in that era consisted (if not exclusively, at least to a large extent) of big guys backing each other down on the low post. It was somewhat boring and resulted in lower scoring defensive struggles.

Shaq was better, was incredible to watch and and multi champion, theres no point in attacking those guys, though I dont like Gobert too, so Shaq is correct  let him troll the league most overpaid guy, he deserves   we need more of this, let the old guys speak, and let the young ones prove them wrong, or in Gobert case prove they are damn right !

this

Larry Bird make 22m in the entire career (equivalent of 45m of today)... Shaq the equivalent of 400m of today $

In terms of what he said? I see no lies.

Is it also petty? Why yes.

Shaq is hilarious and some of you are taking this way too seriously.
Shaq is an instigator (Troll?) and he's doing it again. It's the same thing he does on the TNT set when he always gets on Barkley about his no rings and what he did with the Javale McGee clowning etc. I don't see the big deal.

Shaq is an uneducated, insecure 12 year old dumb f*** that has a **** personality and needs to clown other players to keep his miserable a** relevant. And when guys shoot back his witty response is "I got 4 rings and 2 MVPs, where are yours (in a caveman voice)?". He could do everybody a favor and just read a book.
