This is in no way an excuse, but I think a big part of Portland’s lackluster summer so far is the shadow of a Dame trade hanging over everyone. I think the teams that want Dame, the Sixers and Knicks of the world, have pretty much blocked the Blazers phone number and won’t be calling or taking Olshey’s calls until Dame demands out. Of the teams that are holding out, I think you’re probably looking at a quarter to half of the league is in that boat.

Then the teams that don’t think they would have a chance at (or don’t need) Dame if he demanded out, they know Olshey is in a hard spot, so they’re definitely going to milk the Blazers for as much as possible in any non-Dame trade since they know they have leverage.

Again, Olshey has no one to blame but himself, so no one here should feel sorry and all the other teams are playing it like they should be. There’s no reason to help the Blazers right now from either angle you look at it.

Basically they’ve just gotta pray the team stays healthy and maybe Billups does make the team better defensively…. Pretty much their only hope.

At this point, I wish the team would just be proactive and blow it up.

Neil Olshey needed to be fired already.
At this point Olshey needs Bradley Beal to request to be traded so Olshey can do something positive for Portland.

CJ for Tobias could help both teams

With his asking price for Simmons only a top tier player would have any shot of getting him. Now if that asking price is just trying to build value for Simmons than maybe CJ for Simmons is closer at least on paper.

Anyone believing these Dame rumors are pretty damn dumb, when the man himself has made no indication he is demanding out and on top of that he is under contract for 4 years. ****, Dame has come out against these rumors himself personally.

I think the earliest a Dame trade would be realized would be next off-season and that is if the next season is more of the same. I guess if the Sixers and Knicks want to play the long game and refuse to contact Portland that is their choice but acting like they both are the top two teams Dame wants in a potential trade is bull.

Too conservative, yes but not incompetent. They’ve been in the playoffs 8 straight years.
