Miller at 8%

Klay at 26%

Hmmmm. Somethings not right here. Adjust for era and I’d have Allen/Miller over Klay easily. Miller has absurd efficiency today imagine it back then lol.

Klay’s game will age gracefully obviously but both Miller and Allen carried franchises for years, Allen was a very very important roleplayer on 2x different chip teams and both played for yonks.

Heck old Miller in the 2000 finals put up 24ppg. Ewing and Miller is a very scary team.

Even older Miller in 2001 at 35 years old put up some peak Curry numbers vs Iverson/Mutumbo Sixers... 31.3/5/2.5 42.9 3pt%. At that age he averaged a very very respectable 23ppg for all of his playoff career.

My vote goes to Reggie. 8% is disrespectful

- Over a 2000 FG and over a 3400 TS% add is wild.
- League TS% over his whole career span was 53... his was 61.4 which would be elite even today with rising effective play
- His 3PAR was 3.71 league adjusted was 1.43.
- 39.5% to 34.6%
- FT% 88.8 to 75%
- Basically not just 3’s he was uber “Steph Curry” efficient from everywhere when it came to shooting. Different style, but look at that production, spanning 17 years in one spot. And his playoff resume is very very good. Some big big series’s of play that Klay wouldn’t be able to do.

So yeah Reggie for me.

The mental gymnastics regarding Steph's shooting ITT is pretty funny. Some real big brains on these contrarians, I tell ya.

Its probably Dirk or one of the catch and shoot specialists, not only Klay but also Ray, Rip come to mind. I felt like Rip simply made every shot after curling aver the screen. It wasnt 3pt shots btu the reliability was unbelievable. Especially when it mattered. If you have the luxury to have such a weapon on your team that you can draw a play for any time, it doesnt matter wether its 2 or 3.

On the offchance this isn't tongue in cheek you know having KD or Bird over Nash is far from disrespect or a casual take. Curry, KD, Bird, these guys's are being praised because they ticked all of the boxes for high volume, difficulty, aggression, versatility and non-selectivity. Being a scoring champion level player with shooting as your best scoring tool and doing it at that efficiency is truly special.

Am also worried by the amount of people in the thread that think Curry is just a 3 point shooter.

Dirk Nowitzki. His midrange numbers are stupid high. In the same category probably Nash. His numbers from any distance to the basket compete with Curry's. Curry just does it on more volume, so yeah that puts Curry above Nash for me.

Isn't Nash one of the only guys to have multiple 50/40/90 seasons?

Guys...the Shaq example was of course sarcastic to illustrate a point. James Harden is the least efficient 3-point shooter on the list by a fair margin, especially compared to those who played in the same era.

Absolutely not saying Harden is a bad shooter, obviously he can shoot it...but the context is selecting the 2nd best ever...and efficiency matters.

It's Bird for me. Curry is #1, Klay and Ray and those guys are elite at certain shots. Bird was elite at everything. Won 3 pt contest 3 yrs in a row, 50-40-90. Made fadeaways while being double teamed and telling the opponent exactly how he was going to shoot it. The stories are insane, he's easily #2 for me.

I have no doubt that Bird would be there if that's all he was focused on like many modern players.

Being 6'10 makes shots over players pretty darn easy. Doesn't make him a better shooter though.

When I put Curry into an earlier era, he’s good, but nothing like this. When I mentally put a lot of guys into this era, they’d be prolific 3 point shooters in addition to their excellent arsenal from other spots on the court. It’s an impossible question to say who is best or second best.

You want to take away from him because he was tall? Yes height is an advantage, it makes KD the shooter he is, and that does factor in to your shooting ability. The question is not who is the best shooter wide open. Simply who is the best shooter in the NBA, and in the NBA you aren't open all the time. Being able to navigate through defenses and drain jumpers is what makes an excellent NBA shooter. And it's what makes Curry and then Bird in my eyes the best shooters of all time.
