What I dont understand is not acknowledging his weaknesses, and how important they are in this league. He can't hit the three on offense and spread the floor: which almost every other player in this league can do in 2021. Thats critical in a modern offense because it creates spacing and opportunities for other teammates, something that isn't currently available (ie something as simple as a pick and pop). On defense, he hasn't figured out how to defend the agile guards (though I dont know if he ever will with his mobility, size and speed). Teams continuing to attack that in the playoffs will be an issue for a reigning DPOY, as it has been before.

Hes making the most of his current offensive and defensive skillsets. But man, his game is really limited for someone who gets a lot of praise, accolades, and all-NBA awards over other players who are doing more for their teams (imo) & without the glaring gaps on both ends.

What I don't understand is not acknowledging the weaknesses of Steph Curry, Dame Lillard, Donovan Mitchell etc, and how important they are in this league. They can't protect the rim on defense, or even defend the paint. It's critical in a modern defense because it covers up the mistakes from the average/weak defenders getting blown by on the perimeter. Teams continually target and attack them in the playoffs and that will be an issue as it has before. On offense, they haven't figured out how to roll to the rim for dunks or hit 73% of field-goal attempts. They're all shooting between 39-45%!!! They get so few rebounds and never dunk on anyone! If you're getting less than 3 dunks per game, how are you a professional basketball player? Some of them wont get 3 dunks all year!

They're making the most of their current offensive and defensive skillets. But man, their games are really limited for guys who get a lot of praise, accolades, and all-NBA awards over other players who are doing more for their teams (IMHO) & without the glaring gaps on both ends.

if rudy improved on offense as much as curry improved defensively over the last few years, Gobert would be the best player in the nba.

I see people still blaming Rudy for the Jazz guards not being able to defend anything last playoffs :banghead:

Steph putting him in a blender once 5 years ago, HE CAN'T GUARD GUARDS :banghead:

COVID BLAME STILL?? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

This happens much too frequently in the playoffs for a guy who makes his bones as a defensive stopper.

No 7 footer is going to have the foot speed to keep up with Steph Curry in open space. It's just not going to happen.

If the Jazz have a defensive scheme that is regularly putting Gobert on an island against quick guards 30 feet away from the basket, that means that their defensive scheme isn't doing the job. It doesn't mean that Gobert's failing at his.

What a weird thing to dwell on.

I find weird how people tend to forget important stuff like that. Did you forget he contaminated several teammates with Covid because of his attitude? He put a lot of people who were working, at risk, making fun of something serious. He is at very least an imbecile.

He is a good defensive player with 0 offense, nothing special. If Utah ever win a championship it will be because of Donovan Mitchell and not because of this clown.

Not sure when 1 turned into "several" but Donovan Mitchell is the only one who got infected. Also Mitchell was asymptomatic so he could've been the one to ultimately give it to Gobert and at that moment in time (early Mar. 2020) Rudy Gobert was treating COVID like most of the rest of the world was and not worrying about it.

There's so many other stories of players being more reckless than Gobert AFTER the world shut down, it's ridiculous he's still the punching bag.

Also "0" offense lol

I don’t even bother to talk about Gobert these days. People have there opinion on him and won’t change. It’s more fun to sit back and let people show their colors

You even get a side of hot covid takes!

People do bag on Mitchell though, and Dame has gotten his fair share of hate too (remember the Pelicans series).

Curry won a ring before Durant came, that stopped all conversation bc he proved that even with his weaknesses, he can be your #1 for a ring. Gobert has had gameplans freeze him out (playing small and him not being able to punish them offensively) which has hindered them even against match ups they were favored in (A kawhi-less Clippers).

If Utah wins this year than all hate should disappear. He would then prove that despite his issues, he can be one of the max players on your team. If they continue to lose in series where they shouldn't, both him and Mitchell will continue to get disrespected (as they should).

4 out 1 in big getting spoon fed. Capela would put up the same offensive stats.

Doesn't ATL run 4 out with 1 big?
