But Kyle Lowry was supposed to save the Lakers.

Conley, Dragic, Rondo & Lowry started to show their age this year. CP3 is a crazy outlier.

Probably because as much as people don't want to admit it, CP3 has always been a superstar and is a top 5 point guard of all time.

he's old

people are spoiled by Bron who is a freak of nature and CP3 who also occasionally looks old as ****.

Players tend to fall off around 33 and while they can occasionally turn back the clock..they simply cannot do it like they used to all the time. Kyle , who I like...went to HS with...Philly Philly and all that jazz, also often has these moments of assery in the playoffs in general..might not have the energy to play himself out of it this time.

And win a championship….something Philly fans won’t be seeing any time soon.

I always consider throwing barbs at the Lakers, only to reminded they'll be gifted another Superstar soon and be title contenders again.

injured + Maxey (and Harden) will make any small backcourt look bad right now. they are going at every small and slow guard they can go against.

What a strange thread. The guy is clearly playing injured.

Hamstrings are hard to try to come back mid season especially as you get older

Harden tried to come back after being out a month when he came to the nets. Literally tweaked it mutiple times. Out again. Tried to come back for playoffs 2021. Tweaked it first minutes of bucks series and was never the same again

Now he’s afraid to push it

Lowry is definitely feeling the pain. But he’s a rough guy.

It's interesting how Miami keeps trying to re-create the Big 3 but they seem to have misfired. Doubling down on Butler and the massive extension + the Lowry signing + Robinson being unplayable in the playoffs. They always seem to get out of their cap mismanagement but it does feel like they made 1 too many moves here.

Also he's 36 years old. No longer in his prime so not sure what people are expecting out of him. Putting too much pressure on this Heat team for what reason again?

It was a questionable signing at best. 30 mil a year for 35/36 year old player who is under 6’1 is questionable. That’s not even counting his playoff reputation. I can understand the gamble on Chris Paul but Lowry is not in the same level. All season I was told wait for playoff Lowry, well the playoffs are here and thanks to his injury he is living up to that reputation.

What kind of playoff reputation? Because he averaged 17/5/6 on 55 TS% (which is above average for a PG during the season) and he was a high-impact player in basically every series for Toronto except in 2014/15 against Washington...when he was dealing with a back injury.

Lowry's "playoff choker" label has always been one of the biggest myths. The guy was blocked by Pierce at the buzzer against Brooklyn then had a brutal series against Washington the next year and that's about it. Even when he was struggling with his shot against teams like the Pacers (2016) and Sixers (2019), he was contributing to wins in a massive way.

While I think him playing through his hammy injury probably isnt helping his team, Im not going to ignore that glaring fact to dunk on him.

He's also old. Chris Paul and Lebron have tricked people into thinking they are the norm. Most players don't maintain a high level of play into their mid 30s. Remember Greg Monroe? He's only 31.

The real news would be if he wasn't awful in any non-Kawhi year

2014: 21.1/4.7/4.7 on 57 TS%
2015: 12.3/5.5/4.8 on 40 TS%
2016: 19.1/4.7/6.0 on 51 TS%
2017: 16.8/3.1/5.9 on 59 TS%
2018: 17.4/4.3/8.5 on 66 TS%
2020: 17.7/6.5/5.8 on 56 TS%

Lowry was really good in 4 years and good in 1 year while he was terrible in a 4-game series. If you break down 2016 by series, he was also mostly very good that year too. He averaged 14/4/8 on 42 TS% against Indiana, 23/5/6 on 53 TS% and 20/5/4 on 58 TS%. Good troll attempt though.

Do those numbers scream 30 million dollars? That’s not even touching his age or size. At the end of the day it’s looking like a bad to very bad deal and he still has 2/60 left on his deal.
