If you're going to have twice as many MVPs as Shaq or Kobe I'm gonna hold you to a pretty high standard. Stats aren't enough. Great regular season player

Your standard seems to be that he needs to play with someone as good as Shaq or Kobe so his team will have as much success?

My ranking was
Embiid
Giannis
Jokic

It's weird because every media member I've watched this morning claims they voted for Embiid

We were blessed this year with 3 MVP-worthy players. It was cool that they were all bigs. It feels good that the NBA has a elite bigs again.

Joker shined brightest. That was one of the most insane regular-season performances I've ever seen. I look forward to his Nuggets getting healthy and contending in the West.

I just wish we could go back retroactively and give MVPs to superstars who were ultimate floor raisers on talent poor teams. Joker fully deserving but there needs to be some consistency.

They made the right call. He deserves it. What a season he had dragging that team to a winning record.

So you think Shaq and/or Kobe could have taken a team with Will Barton and Aaron Gordon as their next best options to the 2nd round?

I think MVP Shaq could very easily take Aaron Gordon and Will Barton to the second round, yes

Embiid vengeance tour starts tomorrow night in Miami. Feel bad for the Heat.

Yeah, the two MVPs who played together, while Jokic doesn't have a single teammate close to being an All-Star.

Nah Butler is decent but not mvp.

Jokic was the clear winner for me.

I'm a Sixers fan, so hope Embiid is so pissed now he goes all-in for Finals MVP

I honestly think that people just couldn't give the award to a 280 lb guy who falls down so easily. Congrats Jokic for being great and maintaining your balance under adversity!

Embiid was robbed. No way Jokic deserved that award.

Utter silliness and a lazy, boring take.
Last time Jokic was on a healthy squad he humiliated a stacked team led by Kawhi Leonard and went to the Western Conference Finals.

Fans like you called Kobe a loser when he was on a garbage squad in between Shaq and Gasol. Was Kobe elite, and then bad, and then elite again? Or was he just always elite and the team changed around him? Shaq didn't win multiple MVPs because he too often chilled in the regular season. Kobe came close to winning multiple but there were just other great players. Neither Shaq or Kobe ever put up a regular-season performance like this. You need a squad to beat good teams in the playoffs (ask Michael Jordan about how his playoffs went pre-Pippen and Grant). Jokic's squad sat this season out with injuries. God permitting they'll be back healthy next year and Denver will be a playoff threat.

I don't think Miami is quite done yet, but Embiid does look pissed (especially with the mask - he should keep it). If Philly gets to the ECF, I really hope it's him and Giannis head-to-head.

congrats, very well deserved. he had an incredible regular season dragging a bottom feeder team into the sixth seed of a tough Western conference. this is the Westbrook MVP but with actually meaningful statistics

such a unique player that came out of nowhere. amazingly 4 of the top 10 NBA players are international in Jokic, Giannis, Luka & Embiid

he's the true NBA iron man and has played in 95% (527/555) of possible games. he deserves a lot of credit

After I moved out of the Bay Area to Oklahoma I had to get league pass so I could watch my Warriors. That gave me the opportunity to watch teams and players more often than when they played the Warriors. First game I watched was Denver and Jokic. I never realized how skilled he was. There's no doubt in my mind that he deserved MVP. Anybody saying he doesn't is being biased. It's a regular season award. Not playoff MVP. It's not his fault his team is injured. I say look out next year when he gets to play with his full squad. The guy is a beast!
