The entire Charlotte Hornets front office is filled with relatives of Michael Jordan, his friends and his friend's relatives. Kings and Hornets, two of a kind.

Joe Lacob has his 2 doofus sons in the Warriors front office. They spent time "managing" the G-League team and now are considered full-time on the big team. Probably not as extensive a network as MJ's but this stuff exists everywhere.

Assistant GM of a G-League team is very much an entry-level job. It's in-demand just because it gets you a foot in the door for future NBA FO jobs if you work your way up, which is why it's generally taken by either overqualified people willing to work for way less then then could elsewhere or else people with clear insider connections.

For this, a good owner would give their kid the job to see how they do with it. If they take it seriously and put in the grunt and grind work to do the job well they can get gradually promoted to meaningful positions. If they only treat it as a side gig that they only pay attention to when it isn't interfering with parties, travel and maintaining their IG account then you know to avoid giving them any job that matters.

While assistant GM of a G-League team pays like an entry-level job. It's not an entry level job. The problem is that nepotism hires rarely work because the person being hired isn't typicallt forced out of their comfort zone and it is extremely rare that they are legitimately talented enough to do the position.

I've done my fair share on entry level sports jobs and none were remotely close to an assistant GM level of a G-League team.

The sports industry is one of the worst when it comes to employment abuses.

The other problem here is that if she isn't good, it will have a severe impact on women and/or minority hires who do not have nepotism to get them these types of positions.

Since no one cries about rich team owners grooming their sons for leadership roles, I don't see the problem.

Who cares, she won't be making any decisions right away. If my daughter wanted a position in MY organization, I would 100% create a program/path for her.

Warrior fans don't think very much of Lacob's sons and kind of fear the day they're "granted" control of the team.

Also, people would probably think better of the situation if the current generation owner already established a pattern of success. That doesn't really describe Vivek, LOL.
