Let's not forget, however, that Curry was the first and only unanimous MVP in league history. In a time when Lebron, Durant, Harden, Westbrook, AD, Kawhi and CP3 were approaching or in the peak of their careers, Curry took every vote. That means something. His peak was unlike anything the league has seen...the titles earned over a relatively short career only affirm his excellence and impact. He's an ATG.

Also think of this...at .694, Curry's career playoff winning percentage is higher than every other ATG player in the league, some by over 10 pts. That may go down in time, but he has led absolutely dominant teams.

Well yeah playing with another MVP player in Durant will definitely allow you to have a high playoff winning percentage.

like shaq and kobe? magic and kareem? bird and mchale/parish? lebron and whichever up and coming all stars he can find?

He has also led them to the lotto how many times as well? So that is that. It wouldn’t surprise me if at the end of his career he has a handful of non playoff appearances.

I mean I get people live in the moment, but anyone with proper context of the totality of careers right now would realize that he really isn’t close.

Was Mchale-Parish ever considered MVPs during the time they played with Larry. Shaq and Kobe were great but they didn't play with another all-star like Curry-KD did with having Klay. Kobe-Shaq Lakers were not a super team. Was Kyrie, Wade, Bosh ever playing at an MVP level while being with Lebron?

Well it makes sure your team has 50 win seasons instead of making appearances in the lotto.

are you sure you shouldn't be on the soccer forum instead? you moved the goal post like 4 times in that one paragraph just to discredit steph and the dubs achievements.

Steph being a legit threat from half court encourages teams to build a system around him.

This discussion isn't worth having until Steph retires at age 40 or so, though.

You say that as if Jordan didn't have Pippen, Duncan didn't have Kawhi or Robinson, Magic didn't have KAJ or Worthy, Bird didn't have McHale or Parrish, Lebron didn't have Wade/Bosh, or Shaq didn't have kobe and vice versa. Almost all of them have had a 1a/1b core that led to championships.

Mchale or Parish were never a top 3 player in the league. Durant was. Wade and Bosh also were never a top 3 player while playing with Lebron. Then you add Klay to the mix who was probably a top 20 player which makes Curry-Klay-Durant trio immensely more powerful than Bird-Mchale-Parish, Kaj-Worthy-Magic.

KD and Curry got join up at the age of 29 when both were in their exact primes. I can't recall a time in league history where two guys got join up in their primes that were top 3 players in the league. They took advantage of it and that's why the Warriors playoff record from '17-'19 with wins-loses is very skewed. Warriors had a 36-8 playoff record with Curry and Durant. Imagine what the Bucks could do if they had Giannis-Doncic playing together and got to keep their whole entire team together with Jrue, Middleton, Lopez, Portis for the next 3 years. I'm pretty sure they would have a lopsided playoff record similar to what the Warriors had with Curry and Durant. That would be the equivalent of what the Warriors had from '17-'19 with Curry and Durant.

Wade was 29, Kareem 31. I don’t think you need to discount the point that is being made.

Duncan is ahead imo. One more ring for Steph and a conversation can be had. Two more and it’s pretty clear he surpasses him imo. Obviously this is assuming he plays well in these wins.

I'm sure it also helps to have a top 20 player of all-time as a teammate from the start of your NBA career.

Maybe I forgot but did Duncan ever have 4 of his best 5 teammates replaced by journeymen, rookies and G-Leaguers and experience a nearly wholesale roster change between seasons like Steph did in 2019-2020? Despite that after coming back it took a rule change to prevent him from going to the playoffs and it only took a couple of seasons for him to bring the franchise another ring. There were lulls between the Spurs' rings that were longer.

Wow the silly homer as expected, is trying to do everything he can to correct his stupid statement. Curry wasn’t an impact player when he got into the nba. Had various seasons in the lottery. You don’t want to acknowledge it, it is okay. It make it much more fun to call it out. I mean if he was such a great player he sure did nothing for several seasons.

I mean it fun to use graphs with small ass fonts to distract from reality is that he isn’t on that level. Grasping for straws with plus and minus. Over Duncan’s entire career he never won less than 50 games with the exception of a lockout year where he won a title in his 2nd year. His team was a contender year in and year out. You can’t say that about curry.

I thought you were implying Steph’s teams were in the lotto?

I have nothing negative to say about Duncan, one of my favorite players of all time. Incredible career.

Just think some of the knocks on steph aren’t justified and his impact is harder to measure in the box score.

Yeah curry was in the lotto more than once…. But I guess people don’t like to acknowledge it.

Personally think that’s what I’m talking about as pretty unjustified. The franchise was a mess when he joined, took a few years to turn it around and that includes a pretty significant injury plagued year.

Seems like a reach of that is some big knock on him.

I'd gladly have Curry play with Duncan. They are two different players who would win a title every year.

It isn’t. Duncan was a mvp player the moment he was in the nba, Curry wasn’t despite same ages. It isn’t a reach, it is reality. There is a reason why he was like that, his two way ability on the floor, so yeah it is a significant factor on winning.

completely different types of players playing different positions.
how can you compare the two?

imagine asking, is Duncans 3 point shot ever going to be like currys? or has Duncans game ever resulted in the change of game play style across the NBA like curry has.

theres things DUncan can't even get close to in terms of Currys game play. and then theres things that Curry can't do that duncan can, ex: defend bigs, etc.

Already in ATG group. Further ranking completely Apples vs Oranges players is meaningless.
