Steve Nash. I'm a quiet person but I would've went crazy if I saw that pass around Duncan live.

Re: One player you'd pay to watch?
David Thompson.
I have seen just about every star that has came through the league since the 80s and watched Thompson several times. People forget in the late 70s there were real arguments between Dr J and skywalker as the best player in the NBA. The issue though is by the time I can remember specific games the drugs had control and was ruining his career. I just wish I could remember more than flashes of his prime.

Wade...only ever attended one NBA game and it was to see him play in person before he retired. He didnt disappoint, dropping 35 off the bench.

He was one of the most humble players I ever met. Always had time for his fans.Tracymcgoaty wrote:That one player you'd happily pay to watch if only for him. For me it has to be T-Mac.....Obvious choice.

My first reaction was “damn you’re young” and then I did the math. Damn I’m old.

Man, if I could go back in time with a hi-def camera and record Wilt versus Russell and really see how these guys look so I could honestly compare them to today's players, that would be fantastic.
Plus, tickets would be much more affordable....

Giannis
I saw Luka in person but it was the regular season. Then the crowd taunted him and it was unreal what he did.
Playoff Luka will probably be the closest thing to seeing prime MJ in a few years

Watching Iverson on TV you could see the size difference, but in person it was like watching a middle schooler against a high school varsity team, except the middle schooler was kicking their ass and nobody could do anything about it. Even getting knocked to the floor by guys a foot taller and probably 100 lbs heavier than him did nothing to slow him down.

I remember when his Wolfpack team met the Bruins. You could see that he could jump out of the gym with his athletic ability. I wasn't so sure at 6'4" he could have the same success in the NBA as he had in college, but I was wrong. Wish he could have played longer.

My dad tried to make a deal with him to do something I didn't want to do and he'd buy us tickets to see Jordan. Being my stubborn self, I'd already said no....so there was no changing it at that point. I regret that now...but I'm also pretty sure I'd do the same thing again.

Re: One player you'd pay to watch?
I've never really cared for watching sports in person. It's fun but I'd much rather do it on tv at home. So with that said, I'd want to see Wilt and Russell. There's really not enough footage and I'd love to see how they move in reality and not the odd early era film.

Re: One player you'd pay to watch?
I remember paying $100 in 1998 for a nose bleed seat in Cleveland just to say I saw Jordan. Money well spent.
Interestingly enough I sat next to a dude from Akron, a basketball official, who was talking about this insane middle school player who he swore was going to be able to play in the league by the time he was 16. I think you can figure out who he was talking about. Of course I thought the dude was crazy.

The all-time pound-for-pound champ. Probably comes from his football mentality - dude was Virginia high school player of the year in TWO SPORTS (football and basketball). Iverson backed down from NOBODY on the court. The respect from his peers about his heart was IMMACULATE.

It was always really striking to see how f’ing fast and surgical he was in person. Even when he was just getting a DHO or dribbling into a little pull up there was something so fast and thrilling to his moves. The type of mesmerizing athleticism that would stand out and create its own legends at any time in human history.
