Ugh I forgot Ja. I would put him at 8 and bump Brown off the list to 11

Perfect list except one...and it’s weird

You a browns fan and you pick Jimmy over Mitchell? Did you take your talents and fandom to south beach but never return?

I could see you saying AD but Jimmy?

Have you seen Jimmy's advanced metrics? They are stellar.

I think the top 8 performers have been pretty clear this season:
Nikola Jokic
Luka Doncic
Joel Embiid
Giannis Antetokoumpo
Jayson Tatum
Jimmy Butler
SGA
Damian Lillard

And then you have a choice between 2 of the injured guys who are all going to miss about half the season but were great when they were on the floor:
Kevin Durant
Steph Curry
Kawhi Leonard
Lebron James
Anthony Davis

Or 2 of the guys who played more games but were just a hair less impactful than the previously mentioned injured stars:
Ja Morant
James Harden
Donovan Mitchell
Tyrese Haliburton
Domantas Sabonis
Jalen Brunson
De'Aaron Fox

The league is just so deep and talented now. I don't know what to do. We have somewhere between 15-20 guys who are all so good they deserve the "top 10" label based on the criteria of even just a few years ago.

Jokic
Embiid
Giannis
Tatum
Doncic
Dame
Butler
Mitchell
SGA
Harden

Curry, KD and Lebron right there with a few more games played. AD too. Several others on that cusp like Randle, Hali, Sabonis, Morant.

What’s the argument for Mitchell over Butler? Jimmy has way better impact stats, significantly better box stats, and he’s a MUCH better defender. Is it just that he’s on a better team?

Fair but a Cleveland fan picking a
Heat player over Mitchell is just too objective for RealGM

No order:

Giannis
Jokic
Embiid
Damian Lillard
Jayson Tatum
Ja Morant
Luka Doncic
Kevin Durant
Steph Curry
LeBron James
SGA

Yeah, that's 11. A case could be made to leave guys like LeBron, Durant, or Curry given they will have missed a good portion of the season -- Durant and LeBron may not even break 50 games and Curry can only play a max of 55. That also might be the case with Morant.

If you were to consider games played, I'd replace those guys with Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell, and Domantas Sabonis.

The Morant mentions are pretty mind boggling. You'd be hard pressed to find a single advanced stat he ranks top 10 in (my personal favorite current "all in one" is EPM, where he rates 25th), and he has been sent packing from his team (possibly for the season). In no world does he qualify as a top 10 player on the season (and an "honorable mention" honestly comes off more as a joke. Dishonorable mention maybe?). We're not even talking about a guy with a history as a top 5 player where we have to give him the benefit of the doubt. Just makes zero sense to consider him among the top 10.

My no-order top 10 in fairness:

-Jokic
-Embiid
-Curry
-Giannis
-Doncic
-Tatum
-Durant
-Lillard
-SGA
-Butler

Kawhi is the one who probably belongs that is not on the list because I still struggle to fully trust him right now. Lebron, AD, Hali, Harden and Booker would be my honorable mentions.

Harden is top 5 in both BKREF MVP TRACKER and 538’s RAPTOR
