You need your best player to have a high IQ and your coach too, talent doesn't help much if you don't have IQ.

Bro you need to pick a lane, can't be moving goal posts - picking Miami to win and then saying Denver was a fluke

I think they are having an analytical parade in Boston this weekend. Maybe it should be 65% of a normal parade.

sammo89 wrote:Whenever I argue this point, I just get hit with a bunch of emotional arguments. The Celtics have the better defense and better 3pt shooting. Nuggets shot 33% from 3 in a 'dominant' finals, yet the Celtics shot 40% from 3 when they 'shat the bed' last year. Just on that fact alone, it would have been the Celtics game to lose had they reached the finals

Well petition the NBA to ret-con this as well as last years Finals and give the Celtics their much deserved titles. I mean, that would be the right thing to do right. That way everybody wins!!

Look, clearly the Finals are just a "guideline". The NBA shouldn't be confined to awarding the championship to the team that wins it. It's that kind of narrow thinking that will lead to people actually wanting to watch the games be played by human beings.

Disagree, currently if you are going off of pure talent PHX is the team to beat.

Also, Denver is not fools gold.

The Celtics were the team to beat last year, and the year before that and the year before that. Talent means nothing if you don't make plays, and for the most part the Celtics don't, except for Tatum and the guy they just traded. Now we can watch the Celtics beat themselves again by throwing passes away, dribbling the ball off their collective feet and woolgathering on defense.

Phoenix can't defend anyone in the paint/post, so hard to believe they'll ever be "the team to beat".
Jokic and Giannis are too much for Phoenix.
Also, Jokic and Giannis can both dominate close to the basket, whereas Phoenix rely on perimeter shooting, so when Phoenix go cold....

Good find!
Yup. I remember him in those game threads for NBA Finals. Kept saying Heat in 6 or 7 and each game was the Heat turn to win.

In terms of talent (that has not yet won)the Celtics are the team to beat

Nuggets, Warriors, Bucks, Lakers already won. Celtics are due after making the conference Finals back in 2018 and making the Finals in 2021 + unicorn now

Yikes OP. I bet you are fun at parties.

The most talented team in the league right now is Denver. It didn't matter who they faced this year. Denver is stacked from top to bottom.
The Mavs are dead to me now.
