I agree! Well, unless he’s being guarded by old man Horford. Or old man Gasol. Come to think of it, I don’t agree.

Not surprising, you don't have much else to look forward to this season.

If it makes you feel better, I hated him just as much when my team was winning a championship. Win loss totals have nothing to do with it

Actually Horford was playing with him the only post season he wasn’t injured. Simmons had just gone down, but mainly Embiid was still fuming at Brett for getting rid of Jimmy. Gasol did a great job on him for Toronto, but despite the leg injury and the stomach flu, Embiid’s +/- was scary good that series. Again, if Brett calls just one decent play going down the stretch of game 7…

I'm indifferent about how you feel. I have zero feelings towards any of the Raptors, even Toronto's championship mercenary who sent us home, Kawhi Leonard.

It's very funny that you had such a visceral response to a player on the heels of winning a championship. Perhaps try to enjoy the championship?

He’s so close to being one of the best of all time. Just needs to pass better, play against physicality in the post and improve his stamina. Slight improvements in those 3 areas and he can be as good as hakeem

He's been really excellent this year. We will see if he can keep up the pace, but I think that so far this has been his most well-rounded season yet (at least offensively). I'd put him at/very near the top of the MVP race right now, though I do think winning last year makes it less likely with voters.

I think one of the best parts about his game this year from a fan's perspective is that his FGAs are up while his FTAs are down. His TS% doesn't seem to have suffered much (it's a bit lower than last year but still above other years). He seems to be aiming to score more than draw fouls (compared to past seasons) and that's great as a viewer. One of the reasons I never loved watching Embiid even though I generally love watching big men was his tendency to go for the foul rather than making the plays he obviously can make. That's been lessened this year and it seems to be effective. Good on him.

It's the Trae young effect. He's compared to luka and Embiid is compared to Jokic. Both of luka and jokic just so happen to be favorites of rgm and thus are fiercely defended while simultanepusly trashing trae and embiid.

29 points in the 3rd last night. 10-10 from the floor and 9-9 at the line. I think he likes Nurse’s system…

Do you know how many players are injured and playing through it in the POs. Most players don't say a word, others use it as an excuse...then there's "Sad Guy Joel"

Tony Parker wrote:To clarify, i did not see him as the MVP last year and his PO showings have been disappointing.
I cannot say with certainty whether he is just not cut out for it or caused by his bad injury history.

However he is an extremely good regular season player, shows tons of passion and has been more loyal than anybody could expect from him. Very few star players would be willing to put up with all those convoluted situations in Philly, many have quit on much better teams. He has done everything you could have asked for. Stayed through tough times, adjusted his game, now is willing to go through another retool.

But at this point it feels like any positive statement I see about him is met with constant critique and belittling. You can be upset about the voters decision but he has not earned that hate, if seen for what he is, he is still a really good player and deserves some more levelheaded takes.
This is a forum, filled with older more informed users, so i would hope people could formulate some more nuanced opinions, rather then falling for the modern hot take rollercoaster of constantly overhyping and devaluing.

He strikes me as this generation's KG. Loyal to a fault despite massive dysfunction in the front office and roster construction. Garnett went 7 seasons without going deep into the playoffs too. His personality also rubbed some the wrong way (more so after he went to Celtics).

I was thinking the opposite since the debate with Jokic is now over.

If playoff Embiid was as good as regular season Embiid he’d have 2 titles by now. Instead he’s never been close.

We are just tired of the BS. Another good regular season doesn’t change anything.

Best post of the year on Joel Embiid.

At least lil Trae Young could make the ECF over Embiid....

That's what happens when you fail to perform in the playoffs as the MVP.

I gotta say it's kinda impressive how Sixers fans can remember which injury happened in which year...

When the list is so long, I gotta give props to the ones that keep track

Got folks bringing up stomach flu in this thread

I gained a dislike for him when he publicly put Simmons through the ringer. He didn't take nearly enough responsibility for playing like crap on the offensive end of the floor that whole series.

Speaking of forgiveness. I’ll never forgive him for the interview he gave Shams late last season where he talked all that **** about Jokic and then ducked the game in Denver on the very same day. For someone claiming to be the best in the world, it doesn’t get more cowardly than that.

There’s a lot of people (including fans, media members, former players, etc.) that had his back in the Jokic/Embiid debates, and he proved them all wrong. There’s understandably going to be some backlash for that. That said, he is indisputably a great player and I think some of the hate has gone a bit too far. But when you consider all the antics (both on and off the court) combined with the complete lack of postseason success, he’s made his own bed.
