You're right. Opponents should start junk grabbing/nutt punching, headlocking, body slamming and chest stomping Green!

Its more of the narrative itself they are crafting. Passion and physicality has been on the decline as it is/was

I watched the 'tackle' he supposedly did today (youtube headlines) and saw nothing wrong with it.

IMO hes being used by the league to usher in an even more finesse/whiny version of whats already a watered down product from the golden era.

I mean wasnt rodmans play deemed "passionate and physical" by his contemporaries anyway? NBA players make too much money to be whining about draymond playing "aggressively".

No one cared about bruce bowen stepping under shooters though

Fantastic post - not injure him the way he did Poole Party

Exactly!

I don't know why today's players don't try tricks like this on defense... They are soft!

Talk about exaggerating. How many times does draymond kick people per game?

No one cared when bruce bowen did it back in the day because he was a spurs/heat product.

Then bruce can sit on first take and defend his style of play with zero media scrutiny. PLEASE!

How many times do you need it? I think one should be enough - because it is basketball. Not some high school karate championship in Anaheim.

Lol. Just four months ago he also did that.

Then immediately did this during the review of this play- provoking the fans by yelling and grabbing his crotch - in front of Adam Silver.

Just to get ONE game suspension. Because its evident that the league needs Draymond Green for more $$$. If you think there's a place for these behavior in basketball, there's not much to discuss.

You might still think NBA getting soft, and you are probably right, but Draymond Green's antics has nothing to do with it. These are all cheap shots.

This is an underrated point but the media wants to craft a narrative.

Still has nothing on bruce bowen and hes still revered as a savant of lockdown defense.

If rodman got on 1st take and said for everyone to calm down no one would bat an eye at any of this.

Theres only one direction this is heading and thats a soft kitty-cat NBA. I would even argue some of that looks like "bad acting" on draymonds part.

I said nothing about Bruce Bowen or Rodman. However, if eliminating Draymond Green from basketball makes it wnba as you suggested, I rather watch the resulting "wnba". If you really like this 90s era, then you need to have more tough guys and good defenders, not more clowns and cheap shot artists who are consistently promoted by the league for more drama.

like someone else already mentioned in this thread.... back when players like bowen used to do this stuff they could expect to get a player back in their face. Now when draymond does it eveyone goes and sucks their thumb in the corner and waits for ESPN to hangman Draymond in the news.

You want players to wear bubble wrap when they play? NBA players are the most overpaid sissies on the planet especially considering I know teachers making virtually minimum wage get hit/spat on regularly dealing with rude students. I dont see first take covering that?

I still have not seen draymond do stuff regularly like bowen would do such as sliding under defenders.

We can agree to disagree.

Stomping on a chest, kicking the nuts, tackling are not basketball plays. It's not about being soft or "sissy".

If you are not convinced, go to the Rucker Park or even a random LA Fitness tomorrow and try doing these. Once.

BTW. Bowen was a punk too. Had plenty of media backlash. Esp in Arizona and Dallas/Houston.
Happy?

Hes just being overly nostalgic. It is what it is.

Remember those Knicks teams back in the days full of goons? '90s.

Im gonna be 100%. Draymond looked like he was acting WWE style on some of those "egregious" stomp/kicking attempts. I would also argue steven adams exaggerated the contact on the one "nut kick".

Sliding under a shooting players foot is way more dirty of a play.

You are 100% correct of going to an LA Fitness tomorrow and trying it. The difference? People will get in your face and push back. The NBA is creating a narrative where basketball players will avoid physical contact all together if they can and water the passion down.

I dont trust ESPN and its Disney ownership pushing the NBA narrative in the proper direction. Sick and tired of the stories that keep "coming out" like the josh giddey stuff too. We get one of those multiple times a year now it feels like.
