Citizens or RealGM, I've seen this written about 10 times now.
The Suns have a first round pick in 2024, 2026,2028,2030.
They don't have a first round pick in 2025, 2027, 2029.
Do they own them or are they pick swaps?

Yeah they have picks those years.
They just don't have control over their own picks so no purposeful tanking until 2031

2024 is their own, 2026, 2028, 2030 picks are potential pick swaps as part of the Beal trade with Washington. In other words means the suns still have a first rounder in those years regardless.
There's a BIG difference between having to give up an four unprotected first rounders and maybe having a lower first rounder in three out of four years.

Why didn't they just try to build a good team around KD and Booker? Instead they traded for Beal and built a bad team around them.

Technically they do... but, my God... look at all those teams with swap.
If my understanding is correct,
2024 - The worst from Wiz/Griz/Suns
2025- Gone
2026 - The worst from Wiz/Magic/Griz/Suns
2027 - Gone
2028 - The worst from Nets/Wiz/Suns
2029 - Gone
2030 - The worst from Wiz/Griz/Suns
Suns can't properly tank to rebuild with first round picks till 2030...

Re: House of the falling Sun.
there's enough talent to keep fans in seats and them making the playoffs which is all owner's care about. The draft picks going out will be late rounders and inconsequential. They still have many likely late 1st rounders and of course 2nd rounders and because they have their "Big Three" all they need to do is hit on some role players. It's not as bleak and people are making it out to be

Because the owner is an idiot who takes advise from Isiah Thomas and would have give him a position in the front office had it not been leaked and got backlash on twitter.

That's correct, the only caveat is that 2024 is already determined to be the Suns' own pick.
The suns are definitely not in a good position pick wise, I'm just responding to what keeps on being echoed about the Suns having no picks.
Like I said before, there is a big difference between having no picks over the next 7 drafts and having 4 picks (of which three may or may not be lower).
If the Suns wanted to, they could trade two first rounders this off-season, which again is a far cry from them not having any picks to trade.

This, as you have to keep Beal to keep the incoming assets. Not sure you can combine KD and Beal for anything positive now.

All hope is not lost for the Suns.
This was a disaster season. But they need to retool the pieces around KD and Book. Who are still high level players.
A point guard would help a lot. And a backup PG too.

Re: House of the falling Sun.
Why people trashing the KD trade, it honestly wasn't that bad. KD and Booker looked legit and were able to play off each other well from the games I watched.
Trading for Beal was horrible, made no sense, and they sold as low as you can go on Ayton too.
I'm not sure what the relationship was like, but idk why they got rid of Paul. He still could have been an effective player. and given Book and KDs ability to run the offense, they didn't need him to play 35+ minutes every night.
The Ayton trade actually was decent looking back on it, as both Nurk and Allen were awesome for them this year. Bringing in Gordon and Royce was also solid. The bench wasn't bad, and all of Rody, Bol, Little, Drew, and Okogie have made other teams rotations. They just never found a spot for most of those guys.
That Beal trade man.
Nurk- Eubanks
KD- Royce- Rody
Book- Okogie- Little
Allen- EG
Paul
That team just looks so much better and more balanced. Feel bad for Sun fans

Team full of jump shooters, nobody plays defense, and none of the supposed stars care that much, what could go wrong?
