Kyrie really ended up in the perfect situation for him. Knew Nico from Nike. Coach is Kidd that was his idol as player and is, whatever we sometimes think about his coaching, a players coach that all players seems to love. The rest of the coaching staff is amazing. The whole organization is like a small town family but in a big market. Heck, kyrie even have a different handshake with everyone from the play by play guy down to the one doing the laundry. And dont underestimate Luka being the no1. Luka never said a bad thing about a teammate. If they lose he is always blaming himself and think he should have done more even if he scored 50. Kyrie is basicly a no2 with zero pressure which seems to relax him, but still get the credit every time mavs win cause luka never take the glory in wins, just the blame in losses.
And the mavs organization is very strict with media. If media doesnt behave they just get banned. Its night and day compared to NY and boston where every idiot seems to be allowed to ask whatever they want. And the guy loves basketball, he is there to play basketball, not discuss personal stuff, and u can see him actually shine. When he is out doing those basketball days with kids, whatever they do. And they seem to have gelled really good in the team, always hanging out at the freetime doung stuff.
Houston wouldnt been the same. It was, frim the outside, an organization in disarray. Not where u want to throw kyrie into after the nets debacle. He would have been back to boston being the no1 in a young lockerroom. While i thought houston overpayed at the time, fred fits perfect there and have changed the culture. I think both got the best option for them and i fo think houston can be a threat in a few seasons. But organizations cant panic in the west the coming years. It will be even more of a bloodbath then this year. Most likely 3 teams with good playoff potential will miss the playin. An injury can take a team expected in top 3 out of the playin. It will be tough for gms and owners to not overreact
