It's up to you MODs really, but you know how It goes every off season haha, some goat debate threads are just crazy and drives me and others nuts.

I just stickied it. Enjoy.

I shall name my first born after you.

I’m all for people talking about what they wanna talk about, but man, the 500,000,000 threads we get on this topic just gets annoying after a period of time.

In Due time I can see the poll of Jokic moving up and way past Jordan, threads only been up for a day so give It time.

Like I said earlier I had Wilt In there, but decided to swap him for Curry I was considering doing Shaq Instead of Jokic, but tried my best to even things out, tough to please everyone.

Heck I have Bird In my top 5 all time list and didn't even mention him In the poll. :o

Peace.

James easily best basketball player I’ve ever seen (been a fan since late 70s).

I've replaced him with Stephen Curry worthy of the goat debate talk - Not that Wilt Isn't but you know.

Peace.

No, he's not even close to being worthy of a spot as a choice for possible goat.

What’s even funnier is how lopsided the poll is. Shows how vocal the minority on lebron are

I agree, didn't really want to put Jokic In there, did It for the new generation of fans - again can't please everyone In the poll LOL

You can always discuss about Walton and anyone else, just because someones name Isn't In the poll doesn't mean you can't talk about him - It's the purpose of the thread (and to stop new one from popping up) to help people discuss the goat debate for years to come haha.

So you saying someone who's a; 4 time champ, 2 time mvp, the greatest shooter all time, Inspired millions of people around the world not worthy to debate as a goat? I mean his a top 10 all time In a lot and I mean a lot of peoples eyes including, nba players and what not, most people will put him In there top 10 list.

ROTY, 10 scoring titles, 3 steals titles, 5 MVP’s, 6 FMVP’s, 2 repeats, 2 3-peats, 6-0 in the Finals, highest career PER, highest career regular and postseason PPG average etc not to mention all of the advanced stat metric records he owns. Did it all in just 11 1/2 seasons. Some GOATS win (Russell) and some have longevity stats (Lebron) but Jordan has the best mix of winning AND stats.

This doesn't even mention Jordan's NCAA and Olympic accomplishments. If we're giving Lebron credit for his longevity due to the number of seasons he played we should also give Jordan credit for what he did while in college.

If you are arguing the basketball GOAT yeah the accomplishments of NCAA count too. If it's the NBA GOAT then obviously not.

If that's the case I believe Kareem rises even more, as his college career was the most impressive.

This is such a soft counter.

Lebron was a much better basktball player than Jordan at the age ncaa accomplishments were being achieved mirroring what he was doing at college at a much higher level. That should be factored in...as a negative point of comparison for Jordan

Object to the poll. There are non top ten guys on there while some top ten guys aren’t.

Russell/Wilt/KAJ/Shaq/Duncan/Bird/Jordan/Magic/James

That’s the list which has the broadest agreement IMO. Sorry Kobe fans.

I'm a huge Kobe fan, no hard feelings haha. Not a bad list though :) - Edit: pretty much the same list as me, but I have Kobe instead of Wilt In there and It's different order -MJ for me Is the goat. Kobe ranked 6th for me :) Oh and Shaq instead of KAJ

Kareem was great no doubt, and I am old enough have watched him play, but I meant in the sense that it is generally accepted that the debate is between those two.
I don’t object to Kareem and Russell, and may be doing a disservice to those two, but the list of options is far too many. Kobe having a vote ahead of Magic for example, makes me feel the list needs to be pared down. Neither should be there but I would take Magic over Kobe in a heartbeat.
I take back my omission of Kareem.

my idea of a goat starts with the numbers but more importantly ends with the LEGACY, therefore i will admit that my goats(plural) have a bias to the earlier years of the game. nonetheless the bottom line is "what the players contributed to the game." this could mean a few things INCLUDING how the player changed people's perception of the game

it starts with bill and wilt because everything about their(both) story STARTED the narrative

alcindor/kaj - because his career crossed all levels of the game AND AFTER. he was basketball's first teen idol
oscar as well but oscar didn't have the rings

drJ should be on everyone's list. he gave basketball the dunk, which is the language of basketball - every players since owes the doctor

magic/bird

mj

if you don't understand above,,,what are you even doing here

based on the above, if you add another player/s it's a matter of what's wrong with this picture

kobe, curry, timmy, lebron, west, walton. take your pick, i don't care. just leave the top8 alone

What in the world are you talking about lol? The poster said Kareem’s accomplishments while playing in college should mean something when talking greatest player ever and you somehow make this about James in comparison to Jordan….did you read what he wrote? He was correct too. Kareem is by far the most accomplished college player ever and gets the shaft somehow in these goat conversations.
