I might be in the minority, but Butler gave the Heat a lot of success over the last 5 years. I think Riley should've worked with Butler to find him a good destination. It’s obviously not a great situation for the Heat but they should’ve prioritized making a move discreetly because the optics are pretty bad all around.

I would like to know what they could actually get. if they can get net nothing for Jimmy, absolutely do it if you are Miami....but I'm not taking back Beal and butler is refusing some of the few teams that want him

Really? Seems to me that it's alive and well...you put yourself above the team and there's the door.

Someone is going to be dumb enough to trade for this overrated clown. Just a matter of time.

This situation is just weird because we all know it's either PHX or maybe a team like Memphis makes the gamble just for a playoff push.

Miami has nobody to blame this is who Jimmy has always been.

Maybe but they likely don't want bad contract like Beal in return...
Which is why Beal will likely be shipped to another team. I think the rumors are this is gonna be a 4-5 team mega trade they have a offer but I guess they holding out until the last moment.

Miami probably wants a team to take a gamble on Jimmy without a contract agreement. They know that would piss Jimmy off. Trading him to PHX is basically giving him what he wants.
Beal is the hang up because his no trade clause.

Plus the Suns being over the 2nd apron can't combine contracts, so it's not like they could even try Nurkic, O'Neale, and Grayson Allen as their outgoing salary because they're not allowed.

He's going to hold the next team hostage in any salary negotiation and they will not want to meet his demands. And then it starts all over again.

How so? Holding someone accountable is an embarrassment?

Failing to deal with your franchise superstar and allowing the situation to completely hijack and ruin your season is an embarrassment, yes

Just trade him already dude.

I don't understand how this is embarrassing on the Heat's part. Like why would they rush a trade when they don't have to, especailly if they can keep him away with suspensions like this?

How would you deal with him?

a) give him a max contract extension he isn't worth and mess up your team's future?
b) trade him to his desired destination and take back bad contracts and mess up your team's future?

Keep suspending him, don't trade him, let him melt into the hole he's dug himself into. What kind of crack is Butler on? No one is giving him a max contract and no one wants to deal with his behaviour. Let him rot into a ringless retirement and be made an example of.

He's emotionally instable just keep setting him off. Publicly state his crap, throw some sauce on it too to tanish his legacy, and pump the brakes on a trade. The Heat aren't winning a trade with his demands.

Suspending him on and off is just killing his trade value. Had they suspended him indefinitely from the start maybe better offers would have come.

Right now this dude is looking like a nutcase and the more stories coming out is just scaring off the potential teams who would gamble on him.

Haywood is average at best, but he gives effort. Jimmy taking one legged 3s and refusing to play defense or hustle is why his ass can sit down for Haywood.

His value was never high because he only wants to go to one team. Let him walk in the offseason.

Trade him this summer before this mess happens. If we had no intention of paying him, why drag this out?

Not sure how it is petty when Miami is trying to win games and Butler goes out on the floor and gives minimal effort.

But that wasn't the case. Riley told him to be available this season and then they'd talk extension. He said it very publicly. He didn't say they wouldn't pay him, he said go out and earn it.

Because that team is willing to pay him his money. This is all about money for Jimmy. The Heat should have seen this coming the moment they declined to give him the money.

Know your players Riley. Should have traded him in the off-season. Jimmy came into camp ready to cause drama now the Heat have to deal with the consequences.

I'm not defending Jimmy im just saying they should have addressed this way earlier. Dragging this nonsense into the middle of the season was just asking for trouble.

Riley thought he could get 1 more year out of Jimmy in the Heat culture. He forgot Jimmy blows up teams on his time. Deal with it.

I think due to the excessive suspensions and fines. I appreciate Riley. I even stuck on his side when it came to the not caving to LeBron. I do think he's making an example of Jimmy, however.

In the end, the question to always ask, what is this about? Is this about winning a championship or is this about something else? For Riley, this clearly is something else. I think for Jimmy, this is about money. The NBAPA, which is the most powerful player's union is probably going to recoup about 85% of the fines back for Jimmy.

Jimmy needs to stop acting out as a whole. The wearing Suns colors. The standing in the corner at times and not trying. Etc. I've been a huge fan of Jimmy. But he's acted like a child.

In this situation, I think you should expect a star player who's started for 90% of his career, to be upset. Leaving practice is not the worst thing he could do.
