Do all rings matter the same?

Competition has to matter. This is true of other titles as well not just Jokic (like bill Russell's 11 on a team with all the stars in a small league, Giannis in 2021, etc.)

I agree competition matters (which makes Dirks ring even more impressive). However we cnanot ignore the enormous pressure on a guy like Jokic compared to someone who has a stable solid roster of good to great players around him. He litearlly couldnt take a minute off without his team dropping back by like 15 seconds. That isnt the case if you can lean into guys like Wade, Bosh and so on. Yes Murray had a great run, but is and always was simply unreliable, just like MPJ. The psychological pressure must be massive on those guys and even if the Nuggets didnt face the hardest of competitions, without Jokic they had zero chance of getting past any of them.

Murray historically has gotten to another level during the post season. His numbers in the post season jumps levels across the board.

Well you havent watched the playoffs since their title run then. He has been absolutely horrible and most Nuggets fans will agree he is the #1 target to be traded to get back to winning. Numbers arent everything.

Thats a valid opinion - i think 2016 was his most legit ring (at the same time i dont buy the "legendary" shtick because he got all possible help from the league suspending Draymond and tagging Steph with very dubious fouls as well as Kyrie exploding). Pressure? They weren't pushed at all by any of those teams....I guess Phoenix won 2 in a row. If you want to talk about pressure, how about LeBron, 2012 ECF, down 3-2 vs the big 3 Celtics going into Boston for game 6! This was after they lost in the finals the year before. LeBron would've been eviscerated had Miami lost that series, in a very hard building to win in. That was the most pressure I can remember a player being under, and he came out possessed and dropped an all time game in the win, eventually leading to his first title over an extremely good OKC team. That was way more pressure than anything Jokic faced, and its not even close. He had to deliver a title that year.

Of course they don’t get past them without Jokic. They also don’t get past them without Murray playing lights out. He was not unreliable at all on that run. He played like a top 10 player in the league.

This is the point - when KD got his rings I discounted them. Those are Curry/Klay and Dray rings - like those 3 are MJ, Pippen and Rodman- KD is Harper - yeah you good but they would have won those without KD.. whether that’s true or not is impossible to know - big I was not giving kd a lot credit- now? It’s even different for me - so time erases context
