I think Boston would've been all over it, as they most likely prefer Tatum over Brown.

Jaylen Brown for Luka is a laughably bad trade, he continues to be overrated. He shouldn't even have been an All Star this year. Could Jaylen be a 30 ppg scorer with a green light? Sure. Does it make sense AT ALL for Dallas? Not really, because they have to get a true 1st option in return.

Shai, Jokic, Wemby.

After that, I would say these guys are closer to 50/50's... if i had a gun to my head, Id probably bet on the trade going through for all three of them:

Giannis, Edwards, Tatum

Anyone disagree? Literally cant even think of another player Id consider adding to this list. Am I way off base here?

Jokic, Giannis, Shai and Wemby. I would not trade those players 1 on 1 for Luka. For all other players, yes gladly.

Wemby, Jokić, Shai, Giannis. In that order. That's all.

Jokic and Wemby. That’s literally it. Everyone else would be traded, including Giannis, Embiid, SGA, Edwards, and Tatum. Not only is he the better player but from a marketing standpoint alone. And yes it has a lot to do with race

Jaylen Brown may take his craft more seriously but I’d drive him to the airport and pack his bags for him if Dallas offered Luka for him. You never turn down a talent like that.

Tatum? Maybe you can make the case for holding him because the desired goal is to pair a star with him but Brown? Lol. I’d trade him so fast.

Jokic, Wemby, Giannis(flawed offensively easily better than Luka).

Shai is overhyped with zero playoffs wins other than the worthless Pelicans. He hasn't performed Luka level in playoffs. Luka was carrying heavily Dallas in NBA finals.

I wouldn't trade Tatum for Luka either and yeah Luka is better offensively but my Celtics wouldn't react well to a lazy defender with injury issues. Tatum is more uneven offensively but he is a true two way superstar. His length, rebounding and his proven scoring in the playoffs is the better fit. Luka talent is very clear but he just got dissed by being a 26 year old first team all NBA that his team dumped. Mentally he is lacking discipline and that isn't needed on a team whose second best player is good enough to finals NBA MVP.

Sure if he was prime Lebron aka 2016 level defender but that's alternative history because then he would already be finals MVP like Jokic. :)

Guys maybe we should adjust our idea of Luka's value considering his team just went out of their way to get rid of him?

The only NBA team he's played for deemed him a poorly conditioned, non-competetive, unprofessional defensive liability and approached another team about taking him so they wouldn't have to pay him a big contract. I can't really see this happening with other current top 10 players.

Just thinking out loud here.

I agree, but no one was talking about that before the trade, I think that's the point. Had they said, "We're blowing it up, Luka is on the block," would they get more? Or would teams really start digging and find something?

The Mavs literally could have gotten anyone they wanted. That includes Shai, Jokic and Wemby. Wemby is questionable, but Luka is a proven winner.

Jokic is quite a bit older than Luka, I make that trade without hesitation.

Luka is better than Shai, but I probably don't trade Shai because they're close enough to where I'm sticking with what's already proven to work in OKC.

Wemby I'm probably not trading because he's young.

SGA, Wemby and the Joker.

That’s it!

Luka is more marketable than Jokic too, and much younger. You should trade them too. To me thats a no brainer.

Denver would be out of their minds trading Jokic. He’s so much better than Luka, and centers tend to age better than guards - especially guards that weigh 270 pounds.

Shai is a lot better than Luka, too.

When it's all said and done I think Luka ends up ahead of Jokic all-time, and with that in mind, it makes sense to make that trade especially since he's much younger.

Thank you. The Mavs are not crazy, even if they could have theoretically gotten more in a deal. They know what Luka is like better than anyone, and they decided to pull the plug.

This a total rebuke of Luka as a franchise player.
