Watched the highlights of the dunk contest.

Some of them were pretty cool.

Otherwise the whole thing was a mess.

Please keep Kevin Heart as far away as possible next time.

The crowd was 40% full. They tried to dim the lights so we wouldn't notice lol.

All star saturday was so cringe and the Spurs tried to cheat a simple skills challenge. Pathetic.

And the worst part, Sunday game....Kevin Hart talked mostly. we cant even remember the game.

Imma be honest with you:

You deserved what you got.

You knew exactly what All-Star weekend is and you chose to watch it anyway. That’s on you.

This is the heart of the matter why it can’t be fixed. There’s so much money now, business factors are so massive, they win out over everything.

The three point contest is currently the best part of All-Star weekend these days in my opinion. I'm just waiting for Silver to ruin it by requiring skyhooks to shoot moneyballs or something else stupid.

There are too many stupid gimmicks. Team captains, targets scores, and now a four team tournament just makes the product strange to fans, and they're not watching. The game was always meant to be more of an exhibition. That's not up for debate. Every year Shaq would bring the ball up the floor and iso, McGrady caused us all to short circuit when he went off the backboard in 2002, and Allen Iverson, Vince Carter, Wade, and LeBron doing nothing but running in 2006, etc. They still competed though. The 2003 All-Star game was as much to showcase Jordan as anything else, but it went into double overtime because nobody wanted to lose, and it was amazing.

Got to respect the hustle for desperately trying to fix this garbage event, but I am confused. NBA wanted that All stars would try and take game seriously, but then they create an event with Kevin Hart as emcee, Mr. scammer, I mean Mr. Beast etc. Like, wtf was this supposed to be, how any players supposed to take that seriously?

In fairness to Buzelis, the dunk he was attempting was very difficult. My issue is that he ended up failing making a dunk and was still awarded 40 points. That means that all of us here can get 40 points in a NBA allstar dunk contest. The scoring system is all messed up. It's ok to give players 10 and 20 points.

Yeah that was odd and also why didn’t he do a different dunk on the last attempt?

I didn't watch it, but I'm guessing the term "basketball" is being used loosely as well.

Stop tinkering with the ASG, bring back the East vs. West format. At least this way, fans have a rivalry to get invested in.

Agreed, it was bad. Major oversights on the skills competition this year, which made Wemby look bad when in reality he was trying to care about the product and win. How is it the players fault for outsmarting the game put in front of them? If the NBA wants players to take it serious, they need to as well.

The dunk contest needs a break, simple as that. Let the appreciation of it accrue.

And the ASG format was bad. They need to just do east and west, and play for more money or for homecourt in the finals.

But the real travesty here was the broadcast. TNT went out with a huge fat turd. The worst All Star coverage and events I've ever seen. Dumb event, commercials, another dumb interview, commercials, TNT crew analysis, commercials, gameplay, commercials, STOP THE GAME TO GIVE FLOWERS, commercials ... You see where I'm going with this, it was nearly unbearable to watch. Once we got to that stupid Cancun for TNT or the "give them their flowers" BS, I had muted the telecast and loaded up some game I've played 1000 times. Because that is more entertaining than trying to stomach that cringe, out of touch, and hugely capitalistic night of horrors.

Same conversation every single year. The real question is why are people still watching it? I can't remember the last ASG I actually watched. I usually watch 5 minutes of the dunk contest every year to confirm everyone in it sucks and then that's it for my personal "all star weekend" viewing.

Not only the worst asg but one of the worst seasons I can remember. This league is in the worst shape I have ever seen it in. Adam silver ruined everything, and a lebron centric league isn't helping anything.

If you don't dunk the ball it should be 0. You don't get any points in the 3pt contest for missing. If you dribble in and lay it up you don't get anything. You need to actually do what the objective is ie Dunk the ball in the DUNK contest. Let's just do away with the everyone gets a trophy mantra.

I only watched Saturday night, ain’t no reason to watch anything else

Wemby and CP3 trying to cheat was funny if anything, rightfully DQ’d. Skills Comp is pretty boring, it’s kinda a nothing event. Pregame to 3 point and dunk contests.

ORRR just get rid of it? It's not required, but now they have this massive TV contract that is surely dependent on an AS game we will continue to suffer. It's not going to get better, it's always been the poorest form of basketball. Like put a G league AS team against the NBA AS team and the former would win, its THAT bad. That's probably the only way to "fix" it, embarrass the NBA players into trying.

Silver needs to become the MLS commish because it’s obvious he watched too much soccer and wants to turn the nba in to one big tournament. People don’t care about that crap. Just give us east vs west. Ratings are gonna suck regardless don’t make a bigger joke out of it.

Same, i also find this confusing. It's the definition of insanity to consistently tune in to see if it improves.

We're living in an attention economy. The single most expensive thing you can pay with is your focus and attention. If you want to impact the current 'product' (hate the term because at its core basketball is a sport) you have to tune out.
