Bobby Marks pointed out that Kyrie was playing the most minutes in the nba for over a month since the Luka trade, so a convenient if not valid reason to point at Nico for some blame for this

A professionally maintained, world class athlete in midseason form. Sometimes it's easy to dismiss the toll of pro sports on the body. Then we get brutal reminders.

They aren’t moving the team to Vegas. They just want to get the most money from a big market. Lowering overhead and increasing ticket prices.

Is there any point to even bringing back AD this year?

In the mean time, Dallas owners are thinking of even raising their ticket prices now to 18% instead of 8.5%. :banghead:

The supermax contract is like 110 millions more that a normal max contact if he was to leave Dallas from free agency. No way it would happens....

We don't know for sure but I think he would leave. He already has a lot of money plus he can make a **** of money from endorsements in LA anyways.

Giannis stayed because the Bucks were a contender. The current Mavs especially given this Kyrie Injury are just not. Different situations.

Money is not everything but when this is 110 millions, this is a major difference. No player who could have the super max leave their team from free agency in this decade

I would also add: does this injury even happen if Luka is on the team? Kyrie has played the most minutes of anyone in the league over the past month. By trading Luka the Mavs basically put all shot creation on Kyrie, someone who doesn’t exactly have the cleanest health record. Putting all that responsibility on a 32 year old guard was never wise to begin with.

Damn. That's a huge loss for the Mavs and especially so after having traded Doncic (in addition to no time table for the return of Davis). This is especially big for a player like Irving you uses speed and explosiveness to be as elusive as he is. An ACL injury has been known to sometimes rob players of their ability to play the same as they had pre injury.

Godspeed on a healthy recovery, Kyrie.

it was a freak accident. There's no way to say one way or another whether this happens if Doncic is still on the roster.

**** horrible, man.

I hate to shift this, but does this give Nico more time? This kind of feels like something you could use as a time buying scenario like “hey we coulda contended with AD and Kyrie, it’s not our fault they got hurt”

**** you Nico Harrison, **** you Dallas Mavericks organization, and **** you Dallas medical staff. I PRAY that I'll never see Kyrie in a Mavericks jersey ever again.

Oh, and **** that slow bumbling idiot Jonas Valanciunas.

I don't think so because Kyrie is turning 33 in March and is already very injury prone and AD is turning 32 in March and is also very injury prone.

Maybe relying on two injury prone players that are already in their 30s is not a very good idea.

Dallas fans may have been able to stomach trading Luka if they got a a couple young rising prospects and a treasure trove of 1st round picks, but all they got was AD.

Obviously not but playing him nearly 40mpg night after night probably didn’t help. This concern was brought up by many at the time of the trade.

Yeah that makes sense. I guess if you build your team with injury prone guys, you don’t really get to use that excuse

Of course not. Playing extended minutes and trying to carry the load is a lot for any player, be they rookie or well traveled vet. It's that kind of fear I have for players like Booker and Durant, who are but a bump or hard foul away from being out indefinitely and literally adding insult to injury seeing how hosed we are with all our picks having been traded away.

Djoker wrote:I know it won't make Mavs fans feel any better but IMO this Kyrie injury would completely derail them even if Luka wasn't traded. With Kyrie out this year and possibly all of next year too, the Mavs aren't making any noise in the playoffs. What are the odds that Luka would even re-sign in 2026? I'd say slim to none. We also don't know this publicly but I'm pretty close to 100% sure that Luka was traded in the first place because he told the organization that he's leaving next year and they wanted to get something for him.

I'd say he was going to resign 100% either way personally. He seemed dedicated to the mavs. And you don't leave that money on the table.

If anyone has watched mavs game post Luka trade…..

Kyrie has to shoulder now all the ball handling and creating. All the minutes and all the usage.

That’s injury risk. Now LeBron enjoys that comfort

Nico is a moron. You don’t trade the elite playmakers/ball handlers in their prime

Post Luka they where playing Kyrie a league leading 39.3 MPG. This is 100% on Nico and Jason Kidd for putting Kyrie in this situation.

Nico and Kidd have made some franchise crippling moves. Pre Luka injury they where sitting 2nd in the west, and they made the finals 8 months ago. Absolutely bonkers.
