I mean, I don't think that Risacher is having a better season, though. They've both been bad.

Risacher still has worse impact metrics, worse defensive metrics... and it's not like he's that much more efficient. People are getting excited about a couple big box score games. Castle has been more consistent and Risacher was really bad for 3/4 of the season.

Risacher has been more efficient on the season and has been killing it from the corners for quite some time now, actually. So there is some traction there.

Offensive efficiency isn't the only thing that goes into whether a player is having a better season than someone else. It's not even like Risacher has been that much more efficient either.

We're talking about 2 guys who are both bottom 3rd of the league. Risacher is 38th percentile in relative TS% and Castle is 21st. Risacher turns the ball over more & passes the ball much less. Castle has almost 10 more potential assists per game. I know they have different roles but it's still all part of the story.

Certainly. I mean to illustrate the lack of a clear ROY, not to suggest Risacher mu
st win. It isnt a super strong start for this class in general.

What has Castle done to have this award in a headlock?

That screeching noise is the moving of the goalposts.

But, I get it. It's clear you're not here to have a logical debate so I'll move on.

I think some of it is more exposure for him with the Spurs having had more scheduled national TV games because of Wemby.

Its rookie of the year, not rookie of the month. If your going to use these stats and' say that Risacher is going to be a better player than Castle in the future sure. But holistically it is quite close, don't really have a dog in this race. Think any ROY this year is going to be underwhelming, but this is just kinda disingenuous. Also games are less meaningful now, no in the first 30 games actively tanks.

And during that same period...

Castle
December: 13.6 ppg, .376/.207/.721, .466 TS%
January: 14.9 ppg, .431/.288/.727, .519 TS%
February: 14.7 ppg, .441/.310/.761, .533 TS%
March: 19.5 ppg, .456/.302/.686, .546 TS%

Castle has improved his effiency every month too.

I think it's Castle's award right now and I doubt the remaining 7 games will be enough to change that. That's especially true if Castle builds on his March.

Pelle Larsson last 3 games since he's become a starter:

3-0 w/ a team leading +56 in the stretch. He could start if the Heat make the playoffs.
